Hello.  How do you all deal with or educate those not familiar with migraine without being rude?  I am sure this is a somewhat common problem as most probably don't appear sick at least when their aura first appears.  As a small business owner, it's frustrating to miss work and clients due to migraine but I know people talk.  What co-workers and others fail to see is that for every missed hour at work I can match with a time I had to walk off a golf course mid round, or leave early during a dinner out, or walk out on a movie, or being on vacation and having to stay in a hotel room.  So the point is it's not just work when migraines occur but I think for those that do not have migraine it is difficult to understand.  Especially when you must go just when your aura first starts.
How do you all handle this?  I am sure it is a common problem.

Hello, Yes i do know what it is like as i have missed many family reuions and everyone else understands but my own Mother and Brothers and one Sister, one lady at work got snappy with me about having Migraines all the time until she had one all week-end and she said she had never had anything like it, so guess some have to learn the hard way.
I found that from the first sign of a Migraine  i will start take something for it, not always does it help but it just might make it less painful.
I sure know what you are going thru and it seems most of the time our lives are centered around being sick. I always wear sunglasses and a hat when i go out and i put it on before i get out side and when we are in the car i hope to gosh that i donot see any sun light off of a car window or a store front because then i am done for and we might just as well go home. confused
