Hi everone smurf

My name is Rachel.. I'm 31 yrs old (32 in August).. live in NJ with my hubby, Mike & our son, Justin (7 yrs old) tongue

I have suffered from migraines for 10 yrs now.. and they just seem to get worse and worse as the years go by.  I get one practically every day and I'm always popping pills (Imitrex, Relpax or Maxalt)... I have been on several meds to prevent the migraine (Depakote, Topomax, Nortriptiline) and none of those have helped.. I have heard some things about Botox Injections and I may look further into that... I would do just about anything at this point!!

I'm going back to my Neurologist in a few weeks to see what he says.. I also have been having major neck pain, which I think may also be attributing to my migraines, also making them worse!!  Does anyone suffer from neck pain as well???

Hi, My name is Kristen.  I just signed up yesterday on this site.  I'm so glad I found others like me.  I've also been suffering from headaches for about 10 years and I also take Imitrex just about every single day.  I'm lucky to get 1 day a week without a headache.  I've also considered the botox shots but have not discussed in detail w/ my neurologist yet.  I took all the preventative meds like depakote and topamax.  Nothing has worked for me.  Please let me know if you take the Botox shots and they work.  I wanted to ask if you have become depressed at all from your headaches?  People always ask me if you get used to having headaches all the time, but I can't get used to it.

Hi Kristen... you sound EXACTLY like I do.. I have tried everything.. every medicine in the book... and I suffer almost every day with them :( It interferes with my life so much & it does make me depressed in a way that there are so many things I would rather be doing than being miserable with a migraine. I am also going to speak with my Neurologist about the botox shots when I go and see him in a few weeks, I heard good things about that & I am willing to try just about anything... You can email me if you ever want to talk more about it.. we seem to have a very similar story!!

Hi, my name is lindsey. I am 21 years old. I have been suffering from migraines almost every day for 7 months. I can't imagine going through this for 10 years, I don't think I could do it. My aunt has had migrains for 30 years she only gets them about once a month. she tryed botox it did not help her. But what doesn't work for some may work for others. I have been 30 different medications in the last 7 months. The only thing that works for me right now is percocet, which is horrible. It makes me vomit everything I eat or drink for about 24 hours after taking it. But at this point the migraines make me vomit to so I would rather be sick without a migraine that with one. My neurologist is sending me to a pain specialist, who is going to see if I qualify for a something where they burn a nerve in your neck. I don't want to do it but if it works it would be worth it. A few weeks ago she also started me on Nortriptiline, it doesn't seem to be working. I can't function when I have a migraine, and because of the blackouts my doctor will not let me drive when I have one or feel like I am going to get one. Because of this I have not been able to work but a few times in the last 7 months. I would like to know if anyone has found a way go on to with there lifes and work with a migrain. I feel like my life is falling apart. I spend half of my life in bed and the other half over the toilet. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

Wow...I just read your posts and think we all have the same thing. I am 32 and have migraines about 3-4 times per week. I am popping something every single day and I hate it! I get depressed, but not used to them, no..I've had them for 20 years and I think they are getting worse! I've also tried all kinds of meds with my neurologist and nothing seems to work. I usually get my worst ones in the middle of the night and the neck pain wakes me up and before I even know whats going on, I know its a migraine..I always go to sleep with water and Imitrex next to my bed. But today's was the worst..I was puking all morning and after three imitrex it still wasn't gone. Agh! Do you guys go into work or work at home? I'm home usually with my kids, but its SO not fair to them when I get one all the time..they have to tiptoe around the house and watch way too much tv. what do you guys do?

eager to talk again

Hi, Kristen

I am also new to this site and have suffered migraines for 10 years. It started after
the birth of my son. I take Imitex and blood pressure medicine but that does not work. I want to encourage you to do the Botox shots. I have had Botox 4 different times. It is a miracle. I don't get it anymore due to the insurance not wanting to pay for it since it is not considered a treatment for migraines. My neuro doctor wrote letters stating that Botox is the only treatment that works for me and in the long run it would be cheaper because I wouldn't be going to the ER. The series of shots is around 500.00. I could not afford it without the help of insurance. I would go 6 months without a migraine plus the side benefit is having a mini face lift for wrinkles. So good luck and keep me posted.
