I am glad I found this site because now I don't feel alone. Others
that I talked with had text book migraines and I couldn't relate.
I kept insisting to the Dr. that they were not migraines.
They attacked me on the left side of my head and would last for 72 hours.
They are random, I don't know what the cause is, there is no pattern.
recently they are more frequent but only last 36-48 hours.
They started when I was 53, a few years after peri-menapause
I have been suffering for 14 years and had no idea what caused the pain.
I've had CAT Scan, MRI, MRA and nothing shows, which is good but still has not
answered my question why the pain.
I would end up in the ER and they would give me a shot or an IV drip of demerol.
finally I was given Vicodin for the pain but now I have a  tolerance for the drug
and it really doesn't help.  my family Dr. has given me a choice of one of the seizure
drugs or lyrica.  I haven't decided yet.  That is how I ended up here trying to do
some research.
I will be seeing a neuro in Feb. turn

Hi and Welcome!

I hope that you can find some information here.

I have suffered from migraines and other head pain for for about 17 years now. I have been through all the tests and a lot of different medications as well as chiropractic care, physical therapy, "alternative" medicine etc. Take a little time and read about occipital neuralgia and let me know if that sounds like your symptoms at all. I ended up with that diagnosis and have found a few things that help.

If you dont find any info let me know and i will search some items (I have to go now, I have a crying baby!)

Glad to see you have a neuro appt for Feb. Try to make a list of things you want to discuss so they dont escape you before you get there! (I tend to have that problem)
