So I've been on the Fibro and Anxiety boards... but I've decided to post here since my headaches have come back.

I grew up with headaches... my mom had chronic headaches for as long as I can remember, and migraines creep up on me in batches.

I haven't had a bad headache for 6 months, since I was diagnosed with Fibro, however because of increased anxiety I've been having daily headaches again. Triggers seem to be when I leave my house (agraphobia related I think...) or if I get over simulated.

The thing is right now I'm dealing with things three fold, my fibro, my anxiety and my headaches... each make eachother worst and I'm worried I'm falling into a bad cycle.

Does anybody here deal with anxiety and headaches? Or have any suggestions on what I can do... I was suppose to see my doc today but the hospital was too busy with an emergency and a my doc was sick.

Corrie, I hope you find peace and relief soon. My first reaction when I read your story was wondering if you had tried Elavil; I see from your med list that you do, although a fairly low dose. Elavil has it's drawbacks with side effects (weight gain, dry mouth...) but it does wonders for Fibro and, for many, it's used as a preventative for migraines. I wonder if your Dr. would consider increasing the dosage to help you with the head pain and fibro pain? It may help you avoid a worsening situation.

I was on a higher dose, but the decreased my dose and put me on Venalfaxine to slow down seretonin uptake. I take venalfaxine for anxiety, plus since it helps the Elavil stay in my system longer it helps me sleep. I'll talk to my doctor about the dose though :)

Corrie- Migraines, anxiety and fibro all go together!

I think you have to try really hard to manage each thing, if your fibro and migraines are out of control then it upsets the anxiety etc. It hard to tell which came first the chicken or the egg...lol

I feel like when I have a good action plan on how to manage things it helps with each. For example, if I have acute meds for migraines I feel more settled and dont constantly worry about the next migraine episode which in turn lowers my anxiety and fibro.

I hope you can find something that helps with all 3. Its miserable to always be anxious and in pain!
