Hi everyone. I am trying to make sense of my symptoms and hope someone can help me out.

My neck creaks, snaps and pops when turned to the left. At certain angles it can sound like grinding up chalk.

Upon awakening my neck can be sore and the pop is very soft. As the day wears on though, it sort of starts kicking into gear so to speak and begins popping more loudly and constantly.

Next comes the weird pressure feeling back there that I get especially after light exertion.

The pressure concerns me as it is a dull feeling in the back of my head making me think it's really bad news.

Anyone out there with this symptom? What was the diagnosis?

P.S. I normally post over the Lyme disease area of this site so I'm not sure if this is primary or secondary symptom to Lyme. I do know that after six months or so of ABX, the popping never stopped. However, the pressure symptom seems to have worsened being off ABX.

Hey I'd like to more about your Lyme experience. Is it possible to get bitten like a year ago and then one day start to have extreme symptoms. Or maybe have symptoms all along just not that severe and really noticable and then one day something kind of "triggers" the disease into action???

By the way I have your same symptom and have been diagnosed with a spontaneous spinal fluid leak. based on your history though I would assume you are suffering some residual effects of the lyme. That is a vicious disease.

I also get the neck creaking and popping and I have constant head pressure, and sometimes pressure in the back of my neck as well.
Unlike Rooster, I have no DX.  However, Lyme has been suggested to me from other internet folks because I have at least 25 other symptoms in addition to the head pressure.
Let me know what you find out,

Dear Rooster, Not a whole lot of research to support anything on Lyme BUT at least anecdotally, yes, you can get bit and not have symptoms until your immune system can no longer keep it at bay.

Kind of like herpese II or shingles. They can activate when you are under mental and physical stress.

Hi Batman, You could give ABX a try if you think you have Lyme. Worth a shot if all else fails.

Good luck everyone.

BTW, should I see a neuro about the back of head pops or just wait since I don't want anymore bad news? No one seems to be able to help me.

I would definitely see a specialist...even if they say its a part of lyme issues. You want to make sure you check it out. There can be so many sources for head/neck pain.

My neck actually starts to get really stiff and cracks/pops (only on one side tho) and I have been diagnosed with "occpital neuralgia" which doesn't really seem to have much of a connection with the cracks/pops and the pain. Weird, right?

I conquer, not only do you need medical attention but also, if they do not find anything, the soreness can also result in arthritis as well as inflamed muscles that need worked down by a medical massage
