Sorry for the double double post post on different topics from me tonight.

I just felt the most horrible STABBING SHARP pain in my facial TMJ area that I have never felt before.  I will call my new doctor first thing in the morning to report this new symptom.

In the meantime I have taken a muscle relaxer and am planning on using a cold pack on my jaw.

Is there anything else I can do or should say to my new doctor?

I'm pretty sure this means I do get to eat ice cream for dinner.

Help, help if you have a moment to calm me down or tell me nice words.

Oh Holly!!!!

I am so sorry you aren't feeling well!! (that's putting it mildly huh?)

I would suggest not eating anything that requires a lot of chewing, try not to grind your teeth...and try to RELAX. Maybe a hot shower..something to ease the tension.

I really wish I had better advice. Let us know what the doctor says!

Try to rest some..

Thank you, Sara.

The pain went away, so now I don't know if I should call the doctor's office and report it or not.  What do you think?

Good morning,

I have this problem too. The only thing that really worked well for me was acupuncture. I woke up one day and could barely open my mouth. It was awful. Ear pain, jaw, the head, neck, etc. anyway, after one treatment I slept with my mouth open, no clenching. I did four treatments all together and it was great. If you can afford it, I would give it a try. It really helped. Other than that, like Sara said, soft foods, and warm compresses. Good luck.
