Hello Everyone. I have searched everywhere for info about what I'm experiencing. For the past month, I have this very localized, sudden ache on or just over the far left edge of my left eyebrow. It lasts 2-5 seconds with occasional residual dull lingering. It doesn't seem to be brought on by anything in particular but happens 1 - 5 x day.

I have read something about SUNCT which seems like it's in the ball park. In terms of location, it sounds like a cluster headache but doesn't seem to meet the high pain requirement for that. And I have no eye drooping or tearing.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks.

Hi bluesdog,

Welcome to Healing Well. It sounds like it could be Primary Stabbing Headache to me! I am not a Doc and cannot diagnose, but from my personal knowledge of Headaches these type of headaches can be quite severe although lasting seconds and can happen many times a day.

Personally I get these sort of headaches as part of my Hemicrania Continua - they often run alongside! Unless these headaches become a nuisance to the extent they interfere with your daily life, there is nothing that you can really do about them as they do not last long enough to treat.

However, should they become a problem, my best advice would be to see a Neurologist who specialises in Headache and discuss taking Indomethacin with him/her, as this is usually the most effective treatment for this condition. For more information about different types of rare headache visit www.ouchuk.org There is some great information on that site!!

take care

Do they feel like "electric shocks". I get these sharp..sudden...pains that feel like electricity several times a day. They are usually concentrated above my eyes as well or in my temporal areas.

As Ann suggested with the indomethacin that is what my doc had prescribed me for these pains. also, she's right as well about the part of there's nothing much out there to treat them. It's become pains I need to live with unfortunately!!

Let me know if this is what they feel like.
Take care!!

Thanks Krista. Yes, they are like mini low grade electric shocks. They have been very concentrated to far left edge of the supraorbital ridge but lately I too have felt it in my temporal area on the left side. I have also felt some lingering effect. Very mild but it's there. I suppose I am fortunate that it is not worse. I feel sufficiently satisfied that it is what it is and not the secondary effect of something more grave. I think Ann is probably correct -- sounds like Primary Stabbing Headache.
