I have many of the same symptoms and conditions as most on this forum - visual migraines, 2 small strokes now (7 years apart) and several other small strokes that showed up on an MRI. Clearly I need to have the PFO closed. Now the question is - via which method? Do I go for the cath method where they implant the umbrella device? Or opt for the newer method where they use the Da Vinci robotic tool to go in and actually sew up the PFO? Has anyone else investigated both? Would be interested in your decision process - what did you consider in opting for one via the other?

I am very interested in reading your post. How are you doing? What kind of treatment did you opt for? What does PFO mean?

I had my pfo repaired 2 yrs ago through the catheter and umbrella.
It was the simplest surgery.I was awake the whole time( whether or not I was supposed to be?)
I had the surgery on a Thursday and stayed overnight and was back to work on Monday so there really was no recovery necessary.
It helped me quite a bit
