I have been suffering from migraines for many years now. I was diagnosed with lyme disease back in 1998 and migraines were one of my main symptoms. Well after getting well, the migraines decided to stick around. I used to get them about once a month (hormonal I believe), but after getting pregnant (they completely went away) 2 years ago, they came back with a vengence. Since having my daughter, I now get migraines at least 2 times a month if not more and some are so severe I want to admit myself ito a hospital and cut my head off, others are severe, but tolerable I guess. They last anywhere from 2 days to 8 days so some months I literally have a migraine almost every day. It is awful and takes away from my time with my daughter which I hate more than anything else.
Now, I am not big on taking meds. I have tried some in the past, but with no success. They maybe only help for about an hour and then the pain always came back. I wanted to know if anyone has any alternative or natural treatments they have tried that have actually worked?
I know exercise can help, but find they can actually make them worse. I get them really bad too when a storm is in the area (rain or snow). I live in Mass so we have a lot of both.
Any advice will be helpful. I am willing to try anything to get them to let up some.
Thank you.

I am glad to share this with anyone who will E-mail me at emailed removed for safety and privacy. Nothing is 100% but I believe this will help many migraine suffers. Contact me!

I started getting Migraines as a kid and had them until only a few years ago. I had tried many things, but the one thing to truly reduce them (Maybe one a year, always after I've had to have opiate drugs for procedures due to Crohn's disease).

What helped me, cured me I would go so far as to say, was Bowen Therapy a body work that comes out of Osteopathy. It's not cheap, but at the time I used it for this, I was sniffing at least $50.00 a week of Imatrex up my nose, so I was spending money anyway, as I was getting headaches that would last 2-3 days with out the drug, and would come again 2-3 days later, I was wasting money on treatment that was at best relieving me of one migraine for another.

This is a finite treatment, in other words you should not have to go back for years. It's very gentle, very relieving, but may or may not be available in your area.

It seems re-aligning my body was what my head needed. I have a very fragile body, and this body work has helped me walk again. I will say, the day after an be a bit of a "things get worse before they get better" kind of day, but the days after that are amazing. Oh did I say, migraines are pretty much GONE? Yes, yes I did.

I cannot say how much better I am, except to say one migraine a year I can deal with, much better than 5 or more a month.

Wishing all the best,

I too don't like taking meds with their side effects. I've had some success with tinctures of various herbs, I make them myself...the internet has plenty of 'how to' info. I've been reducing the prescribed meds at the same time so it could be this reduction alone or a combination of the two. Whatever the reason, the result has reduced the severity of my migraines and the distance between them.
