Hi there!

Sorry to bother you. I had posted before as I was concerned about Hemiplegic Migraines, but no-one posted back.

Since then I have been to my doc who was terrific - she completely agreed with the diagnosis, referred me as an urgent case to a neurologist & placed me on Pizotifen. A few days in to it I was extaic - after all I have been suffering with paralysis, migraines etc. pretty much constantly (although there do seem to be distinct 'episodes' for over a month. I did not have any symptoms, until yesterday when I started with a fever, & then went on to develop a massive attack - my right hand side is once again paralysed.

I know that many drugs have a therapeutic lag - is anyone else on this? If so, did they find it took a while to 'kick in', or does it just simply reduce severity etc.

Any advice would be so very gratefully accepted.

Thanks

hi snowy, so sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. I have hemiplegic migraines to and because i get them often i have been put on topamax as a preventative. preventatives take a couple of weeks to start working and have more side effects at the beginning that improve with time from what i understand and that is how it was for me.

hemiplegic migraine can be very scary and i totally understand what you are going through. a website that has an active base of people with this diagnosis are at http://www.healthcentral.com/migraine/ and then go to the forums to talk. there are a lot of articles that will help you too!

take care. . .there will be better days ahead. . . .
