I am new to this site and tried to read as many different topics i could that seemed to fit my symptoms. But after finding that somewhat matched, i thought i would try my own thread and see what happens.

I am 36, Type 1 diabetic, migraine and ice pick sufferer. For the past two weeks (following a cold) I have noticed a pain on the left side of my head usually where i get my migraines. The pain is different than a typical migraine though. It is not extremely painful, but constant. But i have also noticed other odd symptoms. All of these only on the left side of my head and face. Feelings of an ice cube being trickled down my head, sometimes settling in behind my eye or beside my nose. Eye weakness, but not to the point of losing vision or the ability to open and close. (I should mention that i had Bell's Palsy 3 years ago, which lasted two weeks, with full recovery.) Tingling slightly in my upper lip (again left side only). I have been having multiple ice pick attacks per day (sometimes upwards of 20 a day).

I am pretty sure it is not dental related as I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and know the signs of an abscess and so on. I have no pain in my jaw and there is no time of the day that is better than an other.

Four months before i was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy i had a Grand Mal Seizure. The doctors "chalked it up to" a low blood sugar (my sugar was tested at 2.9, which is low yes but not as low as i have been before and been able to get myself out of it.) An MRI was done after i requested, as i had pain above my left ear and what seemed like a lump. The Doctor at that point (after the MRI showed nothing) said that he thought it was a bundle of damaged nerves left behind by the seizure and the hitting of my head on that side during it (he gave it a name but to this day i cannot remember it!!!)

I visited one of our local clinics this past Thursday and was told by the dct on call that i presented with a low grade fever (almost 38) and my left appeared clogged. Therefore, since anything neurologically would not cause a fever, he was going to treat the symptoms he did see. I was put on antibiotics and sent home.
4 days later, i have no fever (nor did i at any time i checked myself), and the one sided symptoms are still present. I am getting very scared as to what this could be. I have read up on Trigeminal Neuralgia. Is it possibly that? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!

I started having similar symptoms approx 10 years ago.    It started with the sensation of icy cold water running down my brain.  This was not constant, but every so often it would happen and it was the strangest sensation.   I would even reach up to feel if my head was wet.    Then I started getting pressure in my head.   Not painful.  Just pressure.    I mentioned this to my doctor and she thought it was maybe perimenopause symptoms.   After a few months, I started to get muscle twitches/spasms.  My doctor said this was probably due to having a severe pinched nerve in my neck.  Possible nerve damage.  But because of the drippy water head issue she decided to have me get an MRI.    Nothing abnormal in the results.   I lived with these symtoms on and off for several years.

Then about 16 months ago, the icy cold water sensation dripping down my brain was much more frequent and other symptoms started happening.   The entire left side of my face became numb and was icy cold.   My nose and left ear felt like they were frozen.  There was so much pressure in my head that I could barely stand it.  I also had extreme pressure in my left eye and my chin was numb.   I went to my doctor and she thought they were migraines "without the pain".   It was getting unbareable.   Around the same time I thought I had a kidney infection and my doctor prescribed CIPRO.   I took it for 9 days and the 10th day woke up and felt like my head exploded.   I started getting violently ill.   Ended up in emergency.   Had a spinal tap and MRI.  Both negative.   Again, I was told they were migranes.   My doctor decided I should have a more extensive MRI.    Made an appt with a neurologist.   My results came back with 2-3 brain lessions.   I had a series of tests for various diseases.   The last test I had was a lumbar puncture.   Came back negative.   Neurologist diagnosed me with "benign MS".   I'm still not quite sure what that is.   It didn't make sense to me.  Within approx the next 4 months I could barely walk, think, talk...etc.  New symptoms were coming on like gangbusters.   I had NO idea what was wrong with me.  I knew I didn't have MS because how quickly all these symptoms were coming on and also, the results of my lumbar puncture.   My health completely spiralled downwards.   I was now living a nightmare.   I ended up in emergency for the second time.   The emergency room doctor thought it was a good idea to call my neurologist.    He came back in the room and said "you probably have MS".     He wrote a prescription for "vertigo" medication.   I left thinking "it's time for a second opinion".

I called and made an appointment with my Holistic doctor.   I had seen her a couple of times for small issues/concerns (ie allergies, diet..etc.), but primarily used my western doctor for all other health related issues.    Within 5 mins of my appt she said "I'm 90% sure you have Lyme Disease".   I had heard of Lyme Disease but knew little about it.   Turns out, I do have Lyme.   All my tests came up negative, but this is VERY common.   Within 48 hours of treatment, I felt 50% better.  We have been treating it naturally for the past 6 months.  My current treatment is collidiol silver IV's twice a week for 5 weeks.  We have made GREAT progress but it's a long haul.   Now, with the knowledge that I have, I'm sure I've had it for over 10 years.   Lyme can lie dormant for years.   Lyme can also mimic over 300 different diseases.   My Holistic doctor believe the CIPRO "woke it up" and within 4 months I had over 50 symptoms.    I was symptom free, but another layer of Lymies popped up.   I'm anticpating another few months of treatment.  But whatever it takes!!

My advice to you or anyone under similar circumstances is...go see a Holistic doctor!!   It's a totally different perspective and approach.   This doctor and treatment without a doubt... saved my life!!

I am currently diagnosed for going on 7 years with MS. an MRI, spinal tap, and many common MS symptoms confirmed a lesion on my brain, right side and I only had one major attack. I have been ok for years, just fatigue and all over body pain with a few bouts of tingling in hands and feet. I recently had our first child 5 months ago and I have now been experiencing head pressure/pain for about 5-6 weeks now. went to the ER 3 weeks ago after having a feeling of ice cold water dripping on just the left side of my brain at the same time I had a sharp electric pain in one spot on my right side of my brain, this happened for about 5-10 mins, stopped then the head pain/pressure persisted. I went to the ER thinking that maybe I was getting a new brain lesion or MS flair, they diagnosed me with a tension headache (complete bs) and sent me home with percocet. it did NOTHING!

I just moved and literally just saw my new pcp yesterday, she is referring me to a local neurologist and I am scheduled for an MRI and an MRA since I am adopted and recently found out both of my grandmothers passed from an aneurysm and one had a brain tumor at the same time. I was just researching the cold water feeling and came across this post. I also looked up the malformation I and Lyme disease, I know that I have MS atleast that is what the tests all come back saying but these weird new symptoms have only occurred since I had my child, I am just curious how many others have had the constant head pressure/pain, bruised eye feeling, ice cold water pouring on brain, hot water pouring on brain, sharp electric shock feeling on brain, all over body pain/stiffness and blurred vision at times?

I am hoping there isn't a new lesion but I will not know until after the mri in 2 weeks, meanwhile they gave me norco 10 which usually works on pain but its not doing anything and I am also having sensations of a million little knives stabbing my hands and feet, more often my hands for 5-10 min at a time, only once it went for 30 mins. I feel like I cant think of things as quickly or find the right wording. and my balance feels off. I just moved to a rural area and I don't feel the medical professionals here are top notch so if anyone has had any specific tests that helped or ideas of what may be happening it would be much appreciated. thanks a million :0)

My diagnosis to follow the list if symptoms below. Maybe this will help. ( 36 year old female, 130 lbs)

My symptoms:
-Icy feeling running through vessels in head
-uveitis (pain behind eye) also severe dry eye
-numbness on side if face and shoulder ( tingly sensation as if I were having a stroke?)
- joint pain. (mainly thumb and first digit on each hand and sharp pain in the knees)
- massive headaches that hung around no matter what I took
-numbness of hands and sometimes arms as (if it were carpal tunnel symptoms by merely sweeping and mopping or holding in to something for longer than 5 mins with a firm grip)
- lack of energy
- sleepless and/ or restless nights
-heart palpitations ( as if my heart would beat out if my chest and thumped so hard it literally ached
-fatigue. Probably due to lack of sleep but still felt tired even when I did get to sleep plenty of hours
-burning sensation above shoulder blade/ area between that and my neck
-lip twitching
-feet ached to walk when I first stood up. Took 20-30 min to work it out
-became clumsy and forgetful.

These may not be all but as you can see there are so many symptoms many doctors have to sift through. I was told it is highly possible that my diagnosis is Lupus. Autoimmune disorders are so difficult to diagnose and all the tests I have been given still left me with only "possible unconfirmed diagnosis". My doctor is the best rheumatologist I have yet come across and he told me this " just because we are unable to pinpoint as of now what you have , I guarantee the symptoms are very real and are the beginning of something yet to fully surface" basically he's telling me, I'm a ticking time bomb for the confirmed future diagnosis.

*My recent MRI also shows I have nodules on my joints in my hands. Since my hands continue to ache and my eye as well ... He wanted to run a different screening for possible RA although I had an RA blood panel done which were neg. turns out I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis after all. :(

My Doc did tell me that once you have one autoimmune disorder it is easy to get another. Unfortunately he seems to be correct on the matter.

He still believes I am going to be diagnosed with Lupus eventually when I have a flare up which will show better results in the blood work. I usually see him after my flare ups ( takes a while to be seen. 3 months at least) by the time my flare up is over there is less chance to see exactly what it is since it seems to be in early stages. I hope he's wrong. I won't fret over any worries but sure dislike feeling bad and tired. I feel for anyone who suffers even a fraction of what my symptoms sometimes are. I hope this helps with any info. Get checked for autoimmune disorders. And start taking isotonicOPC3. Best stuff he ever recommended. It lasts 60 days and takes two bottles before you really notice a change. Good luck in finding out what you all suffer from. God Bless.

Hello, i know what migraines are like, I'm an 18 year old girl who been hospitalized for months with migraines, i been on every migraine medications including this one, and not 1 is working or been helping, When i go to the hospital for a migraine, i always become hospitalized, migraines suck for me!! The doctors here told me that they haven't seen a person suffer from migraines like me... I might be needing brain surgery because i also have a weak blood vessel, but that isn't what is causing my migraines... I been suffering from migraines since i was 6 years old... The symptoms i get are: Blurry vision, sensitivity to light, sound and noise, vomiting, nausea, sometimes dizziness, and fainting, and there are a lot more... I get migraines every single day and in a month, I get 28 migraines.. I also had scans done too, nothing is working or helpful!! * I also have a very slow heart rate, my heart only beats 6 times a minute, and i had open heart surgery recently..

I know this is an old post but for anyone reading this now I have had issues some what like this I have diabetes for a while 19 years. I am in perfect health well aside from the diabetes, it could be to do with the head injuries that you have had. I think it might be something else as we get older some neural pathways get blocked or dirty like clogged up so the brain makes new connections. I know some stupid moron will put their two cents into this and say that's not true. You could look for a vitamins that promotes health brain activity Nature's Bounty, Ginkgo Biloba take it for 6 weeks according to what it says on the bottle and the issues you are facing will sort it's self out over the year. Also decompress for at least a hour each day listen to music and work on deep breathing, one thing I have noticed doctors don't have the right equipment to tell people what is causing brain issues because it is very tricky.

Hi im new to this group. after reading many post I find myself with may of the same symptoms.
I have cognitve problems that are becoming worst every week.
I had very sharp pain in the left back side of my head which lasted for a few days then a cool feeling that spread through the left side of my head leaving it feeling heavy, dizzy, numbing, head would cros to left side. A chiropractor says this is in the area of a lesion that i have in the visual pathway. Neurologist called a ice pick headache. this is not an ice pick head, I have ice pick heads for many years know. this is different.
Other symptoms:
forgetting simple things, cant focus, poor concentration, eyes feel dry, heavy, sticky to blink. some times I see red as green, i went through 3 red lights. I find lately while driving my foot seems to be pushing on the gas paddle without realizing it.
piercing pain in my feet and under my feet, ankles deep pain.
I feel like im walking in quicksand, more lately. calf muscles spams, deep pain in thighs, hip pain especially at night.
My hands go completely numb, tingling, stabbing pain in hands.
left side pain in back shoulder, tightness in ribs, heavy to breath, cant wear no tight clothes.
Fatigue can last for days, depressed from fatigue, eating is to tiring fatigue in jaw. I stop chewing to rest my jaw. tongue numbnes and jaw goes numb.
dizziness is scary will last for hours. room is constantly spinning, this comes mostly in winter.
hearing loss, ringing in ears loud noisy ears.
headaches throughout the year migraines. winter migraine can last up to 5 weeks without relief.
and so on...
I was being seen by a chiropractor who notice something wasnt right. He started to rule different diseases out.
MS was the one he couldnt rule out. I asked a nother chiropractor how can you pick up on a disease by adjusting the spine. She said normal feel of Adjustment would be different. This doctor had picked up on something from the very beginning.
He suggest I do An MRI. They find 6 lesions.
5 in the frontal lobe white matter and one in the visual cortex, visual pathway.
When I was seen by a GP she had me see a neuro. doctor.
He took 4 MRI and a nerve test, He didnt do a spinal tap. MRI found 5-10 lesions in brain. none in spine and nerve test was ok. but he didnt do a spinal tap which I was expecting.
He said the lesions were because I was getting older and all test were normal. I almost fall down was in tears. Not what I was expecting.
Im find everything was normal he said and the bst thing you dont have MS.
My symptoms Ive had since I was 19. at 19 I coldnt walk for 8 hours.
He wouldnt read my history and he dismissed me.

My chiro gave me details of whats going on, he made to much sense.
So im perfectly healthy although I have multiple symptoms that makes life difficult and going to work and taken care of my family.

FEELING FRUSTRATED
shocked confused

Hi vib, I saw your post & wanted to respond. I understand the frustration, multiple symptoms & still no answers. From what you have written about the MRI the lesions were considered benign & this is why the neurologist did not order the spinal tap. There really is such a thing as benign lesions, people have them & do not know it until they have testing. Diagnosing MS is very difficult at best, there is no real test for MS. What drs do is rule out other potential underlying conditions because so much can overlap or mimic something else. My thoughts are to go back to the GP & request a 2nd opinion with another neurologist because some of your symptoms sound like a possible neuro type problem. But again, I am not a dr either. Be sure to obtain copies of all of your testing. You should always have copies for your own personal use.

I do not know what your relationship is with your GP, but you may want to consider looking for an internist to become your GP. They have a different approach & look at the body as a whole. May be something to consider.

I do not know how long you have been under chiropractic care, but with your list of symptoms I can't make the connection with adjusting the spine is going to improve your situation. I would be investing my money in some medical drs to get some help. I also suggest making a list of your symptoms to discuss with the dr.

I hope you can get some answers. Take care.

Hello, Im 16 and Ive been experiencing similar symptoms. I also get sudden bloody noses after the icey headache becomes unbearable. The bloody noses do not drip, they run like a stream or crust up in my nostrils. It has happened in both nostrils simultaneously. I also get thick clotting at the end of the bloody nose. Along with these I feel tired, and cannot remember things well. For example, if someone told me their birthday roughly 30 seconds later I would not only forget their birthdate, but I would forget that I asked. This is very new to me and Im not sure if it is serious. Has anyone else experienced this?
