My daughter has experienced her second migraine today (she is 17) and they seem to be linked to her monthly cycle. However she had an aura and then the headache started and then a couple of hours later she had a second aura. Is this common? This has scared her and I would like to be able to reassure her if I can.

Many thanks.

There are some medical conditions that can cause migraines and auras with "mother nature." Nothing to be alarmed of. There are treatments available. I personally have PCOS, and it gave me migraines. I was diagnosed out of the blue with diabetes (not surprised I was the 4th diagnosed of 8 in my immediate family). I saw my dietician to learn about my diabetes, who asked me about my monthly cycles. She then said I had PCOS, and I needed to have it confirmed with my GYN. So I made an appt, and bi goly, I actually did have it. PCOS is just a fancy way of saying lots of cycts on my overaries. I have 2 pills I take, once a day, and problem is fixed. Getting pregnant will be another story for me, I'll have to take fertility drugs. But not all people with PCOS have to take them. I also have cancer, and I have been in chemotherapy. So maybe for your daughter, schedule an appt with her GYN, and just talk about it, see what happens
