I have been battling with this pain for over a month now. It is pretty consistent and nearly impossible to find relief. Ibuprofen (sp?) does nothing and the only thing that has helped are a few Tylenol w/ Codene pills that I had left over from a prior proecedure which I think simply just made me tired but didn't do much for the pain.
The pain has been mostly on one side but has also felt at times like a "pressure" type of pain that radiates throughout my entire head. Like a throbbing. Then I get some sharper pains every now and again. It lasts all day, sometimes into the next day, sometimes several days. It hurts more when I bend forward or do something strenuous. I had some severe pain also radiating into my neck and shoulder area as well but that has since subsided.
My dr. prescribed Treximet which I am trying now but previously prescribed Midrin which did nothing. I am hoping to find some answers to what is causing these headaches and if they are in fact migraines what can I take to find relief. Is there something safe to take on an ongoing basis. i know it is not good to take certain things such as ibuprofen and neproxin every day as it can cause liver/kidney damage (as can anything if taken for a prolonged period of time). I already take Wellbutrin, Topomax and Nexium so I hate the fact that I may have to add yet another drug to my daily intake. In any case, just wanted to get some thoughts on weather or not this sounds like a migraine or perhaps a sinus or tension headache or something else. Thank you!

could be mirgaines, tension headaches, sinus migraines, neck out of alignment (which a chiropractor would have to fix)

Sorry you are having this pain! I understand about not wanting to add another medication. I could be a migraine. If your doctor is giving you migraine medication, it sounds like your doctor thinks they are as well. You are already on topamax, which is approved as preventive treatment for frequent migraines. Since you ask about an ongoing medication for migraine treatment, does that mean you are taking the topamax for seizure prevention? I'm currently on 125mg of topamax to control my migraines.

Is treximet the first triptan your doctor has given you? If so, maybe ask your doctor to let you try another? They are all a little different. For instance, Frova did nothing for me, but maxalt works quite well.

I hope you find something that works for you.
