Iv had a very severe migraine going on 6 days now. Iv suffered from migraines since i was 2 years old. This one is especially painful, feeling like someone is taking a hammer to my temples. I feel very nausiated and light and sound sensitive. I have tried taking OTC migraine medications, including Excedrin. I have also tried Imitrex, with no avail. It will go away for a few hours after the Imitrex, but comes back within 3 or so hours, or I will wake up with it almost as bad before the Imitrex. I currently do not have a doctor, I lost my insurance a few years ago. Im terrified of going to the ER, as Im afraid of being called a hypochondriac (the emergency rooms here seem more worried about giving medication to an addict than they are worried about people who are actually sick and in pain)
any advice/suggestions? please?

It is a rebound migraine. Sounds crazy, but maybe ry your imitrex with caffine pills. I've heard caffine is supposed to help ease migraines and make medications stronger. Hate to break it to you, but past that you will need a doctor. And you can always request second medical opinions as much as you want if you dont like your doctor. Just keep requesting one til you find one that will help you.

My ER is like that too here. I had that problem with one doctor. I second medical opinioned him. Was blessed to have a doctor who saw me before to come in after that doctor, and he asked me what i wanted. THey are usually working with me because I go for non narcotics before i ask for narcotics.

I know what you're going through. I've suffered from severe Migrane headaches for well over 10 years. I had been to 6 different Neurologists and each one of them had given me different prevention pills to try and keep the headaches away but nothing worked and I was tired of putting all that medication in my body. Well, one day at work I was talking to a co-worker who had suffered for a long time from Migranes as well and had come across this all natural juice called. She had tried it, and after just a few short months was completely headache free. I was pretty hesitant at first myself, but at this point, I had sufferered for so long, that I figured I had nothing to lose. This juice comes from a desert cactus in Arizona and Mexico. Basically, what you do is start with a loading dose for 1 month which is 3 to 6 ounces a day just to get the toxins out of your body. I started to feel a lot better after just a few days and after a month on the juice, I felt like a totally new person! It has many more great health benefits too! It also helps with inflamation, reduces swelling in joints and muscles, helps with allergies, reduces stress, gives you more energy, and more. And the best part, you have a 60 day money back guarantee. If you don't like it, or you don't get results, you get your money back, no questions asked, it's that simple! I was impressed with the company so much, that I decided to become an affiliate and start selling it and telling people about it myself.

You will have to go cold turkey on anything with caffeine and go through the pain. It will take a week or more with no caffeine to stop the rebounds. There is no other way. Then when you take caffeine medicine in the future, be careful not to take it too often. Endure a few days of pain if necessary in order to avoid getting the rebound headaches. I know how you feel - this is very hard and I have been through the same thing.
