I started Vimpat about a month ago; a new(er) seizure med that seems to work well for migraine, especially cluster or cluster feature; which I have. A Dr. in Texas found the connection and did a small clinical trial; while the trial was small the results were very impressive.
Vimpat seems to have a commonality with calcium channel blockers as well, although I don't understand this part; calcium channel blockers do not work for me, but there apparently is a difference in the chemical behavior of the ccb vs. vimpat.
As far as efficacy, for me, I'm in awe right now; I've gone from 7 to 9 headaches per day to 1 to 3 and beyond that; I feel great! I feel as though I'm the queen of side effects when it comes to meds, and I am having no problems, no side effects (knock on formica!). Mood wise, I feel better than I have in a long, long, time; and it is helping my headaches. I go back to MHNI the first of January; we'll see if he wants to increase the dose to see if it stops them completely.
Right now, I'm breathing a sigh of relief!
