Hello everyone. I've got what a think is an odd trigger. It started about 5 years ago.

I worked 50 miles from home, and would sometimes stop at a small, local grocery store on my way home to pick up something for supper. Almost immediately upon entering the building, I would feel an odd, pulsing sensation in my ears. Then the aura would come, followed by the migraine.

I've since moved to another state, and sometimes go to a grocery store in a neighboring city. I've had two migraines start the same way in back-to-back visits. I was fortunate the last time I visited; I got the pounding, but no aura or migraine.

My questions are:
Does anyone else experience something similar?

Could these be triggered (in anyone's opinion) by EMF or an alarm system? I'm pretty sure it's not the fluorescent lights-other stores don't affect me similarly.

That is so interesting!

At first I was going to say I wondered if it was happening to your during your trips home from work as the stress of the day releases/you're hungry but then you mentioned it continued to happen even at different times when you moved! So you may be on to something.

Hi Jpurt,

Unfortunately it could be many things. Off the top of my head I would say possibly fluorescent lights that use a magnetic ballast instead of electronic ballast, or lights that throw off particular color hughes that you are sensitive to (fluorescent lights do vary). It could also be very subtle smells/scents that these stores have in common. Maybe changes in altitude. Do you go up and/or down in elevation to get to these stores? It could also be a combination of triggers. Ie... you're exhausted/fatigued after work, and you walk into a store with a trigger. The combination could put you over the edge.

Best of luck in finding your trigger(s)!
