Hello all,

I was wondering what I can do.  I am on Elavil to help prevent migraines (some of my meds for my Crohn's disease cause them and they run in my family).  I do have them triggered by my menstual cycle I see my GUN this week so I plan on bringing it up however usually when my period starts the headaches end this time they havent.  I start back on my BCP Sunday night and of this week I have suffered so much.  It sems like every 6 months or so they last a longer duration than normal.  I take relpax to help them and the other day that wasnt enough I had to take my tylenol with it to make it tolerable.  I use ice packs and stay in a dark room.  I know I do have certain food  triggers so I do stay away from them.  any help or advise would be appreciated

thank you

My OBGYN prescribed me a medication called ponstel that seems to help a lot with my menstrual migraines. I have heard taking calcium can help but I've been taking it and I still get debilitating migraines. You're not supposed to take the ponstel with Chron's/UC but I use it anyway because the migraines are so painful, I don't think I have too much of a choice. I can totally relate to what you're going through. This past month, I actually had a migraine that kept me up at night, then I had another one about a week before my cycle which is unusual for me. I get one the first and last da of my cycle every month. It's a lot to deal with. Maybe you should ask about this Ponstel. It really seems to help me. I hope it doesn't cause my UC to flare up

I've been suffering from headaches every day for over a year and a half. I have tried just about everything to make them go away. I recently started supplementing with Magnesium (not specifically for my headaches), and a few days after taking it daily, my headaches were gone! Then there were a few days where i got lazy and didn't take the magnesium, and my headaches came back! So i took it again, and they went away! AMAZING! You have no idea how huge this discovery is for me!!! I'd highly recommend you give it a try. After getting the results that i did, i thought i'd do a little research online and found a couple websites that you might find helpful:

http://www.relieve-migraine-headache.com/magnesium-migraines.html

I wish you the best of luck, it sounds like your headaches are worse than mine have been, but its worth a try.
Just FYI, I've been using "Lifetime" brand liquid magnesium blend (orange vanilla flavor).
