I'm wondering how much smoking might have to do with Migranes and Auras.

I quit a week ago. Not because of migranes but because I HAVE to. I just feel like c rap most of the time so I figured it's time to stop taking in 400 to 1000 poisons a day no matter how much I love the nicotine. I really don't feel all that much better so far and my heartrate is still high. We are looking into the cause of that with bloodtests. Still waking up nauseus and stay that way most of the day and night. Doc thinks it could be thyroid.

Anyway, Had a rash of Auras and migranes over the past month to 6 weeks. I am so sick of them I could spit. mad

Glacier, I am in the same situation, HAVING to quit! I have Crohns Desease and should not be smoking at all..and like you said putting 400 to 1000 unknown poisons into my system. I picked a quit date and went through the smokers helpline plus the patches, I have been smoking for a long time and have had several failed experiences soI am hoping this time it sticks. I am also just sick of feeling like crap all the time plus it stinks! When I have quit before I actually get headaches, not migraines like yourself, but from the withdrawels. I am glad to hear that you are quitting also, keep in touch when you need to complain, It is inspiring to me to hear you have gone a week, honestly, so stay postive and pat yourself on the back. To me that is a long time.. I will bet eventually your heartrate will balance out, your body may be stressed right now so hang in there! Good Luck and will keep you in my prayers..

Well, it's been almost a month and I woke up with the aura yesterday. I do remember getting the aura before I ever started smoking so I guess it has little or nothing to do with smoking.

I have noticed though my heart isn't racing and banging like it was and I think my bp is somewhere around normal again. I do feel a little faint now and then though so I have to lay down frequently.

I did also stop taking the bp med since I was passing out all over the place. Took about a week to gradually wean myself off, that was NO fun at all. mad

It's going to take a while for this bp thing to resolve itself. I have stopped doing a lot of things that were making it go up. No more Excedrin, coffee, adrenalin inhaler, SMOKING. But I'm sure since I am a little overweight and VERY out of shape, that has something to do with it too. Time to start working on that I guess. eyes

Maybe I'll go for a walk today. idea

Oh, ljb. I quit cold turkey. I waited for the free patches for over 2 months and finally just said the hell with it I'll just stop. Wasn't too hard because I really wanted to stop.
