Hi Everyone- confused

I experienced my first ocular migraine about 9 months ago. It was extreme with the usual colored jiggling spikes in my left eye and a blind spot in the center. It lasted 45 minutes then quickly dissapeared. Naturally it was very scary and I had no idea what it was. After the incident I felt ok, but after a few hours I began to feel very tired, spacey and weird. I went to sleep. The next day I woke up feeling those symptoms and even worse. It reminded me of what people describe after having an epileptic seizure. Burned out and disconnected. The symptoms worsened and I felt like that all the time for more than 10 days.

A friend of mine read what I posted about it on facebook and said he and his wife both got them all the time and that they discovered that they both had severe candida overgrowth and felt that the ocular episodes were triggered by the condition, so they gave me info on the candida diet and suggested a cleanse to do for several weeks. I quickly recovered then felt better than I have since I was a kid and it pretty much stayed that way for 9 months. However I still had some problems with my bowels off and on and decided to go back on the cleanse and the diet 2 weeks ago.

6 days ago I had my second episode of ocular migraine. It was not as severe and lasted only 30 minutes. I remained calm and simply tried to ignore it as I layed down and watched a movie. I felt just fine after the episode, and then shortly after that I went to bed.

*In both cases I had no headache after the episodes*

The next day I woke up feeling very weird mentally. Overly tired, feeling spacey, disconnected, fizzy feeling in my head. Felt sort of like being slightly brain damaged or something. There appears to be no anxiety or depression involved that I can detect. I just feel weird all the time. I tried various things to get this to clear up like going to the health club like I always do and doing aroebics, sauna, steam, ect. It didn't help and I only felt worse. Also none of my usual viamin suppliments like b-100, multi, C, iron, chromium, etc. seem to help at all. Neither does Tai Chi or Yoga.

Does anyone experience feeling weird for days after an episode that is not followed with a headache? Or with a headache for that matter?

What could be going on here? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help :) shocked

Can you describe your symptoms in more detail? How many days has it been since you began to feel this way total? Has this ever happened to you before? My condition has not improved since I posted this 7 days ago. It's been 11 days since it began. I read all over the place that visual/ocular migraines with no headache are harmless and cause no brain damage, so I am at a loss as to why I am feeling so lousy. I guess it's time to see a doctor yeah

The numb feeling, does it make you feel dizzy, confused, disconnected, tired, spacey. Do you feel like a zombie or can't think clearly? How many days has this been going on?

Well just be greatfull your head only feels numb. I'm not attempting to be-little your symptoms, I'm sure it very miserable, but it could be worse. By far. I have had that numb feeling before too, so I sort of understand what you mean. Interestingly enough I was in a car accident a long time ago. My car was rear-ended as I sat at a stop light by another car being chased at 90 miles an hour by the CHP. My car flipped end over end and as it was flipping I was hit in the back of my head by a Marshall amp that was sitting in the back of the car. I had a concussion and recieved 18 stitches on the back of my head. For weeks after the accident I had dizziness, nausia, and yes a feeling of numbness in my head. But it cleared up. So this happened while you were skating and you hit your head. You felt numb in the front of your head and it felt that way for a month? No headache, dizziness, or spaciness, so that good. No pressure in your head or tightness? And this happened 3 years ago and you have have felt fine since then all the sudden the symptoms returned? And your sure you didn't hot your head on anything again recently? Do you use any recreational drugs, even Marijuana regularly? Do you suffer from any mental problems such as anxiety, depression?

hi natja, the symptoms you describe are EXACTLY the ones i am suffering at the moment and are indeed very hard to describe unless you have suffered from them. The last time i had a bout of these symptoms they lasted over a month and apparently are quite normal though distressing.
