hello all,

i could use a little help. i don't have health insurance so it's a little tough for me to go to a neurologist or any kind of specialist. i've had migraines before but this one is lasting 7 days so far. i'm a little worried. i know it may be linked to a very stress related situation right now. however, it scares me when i read up on migraines...especially when they say things like "there could be underlying conditions of a tumor". my neck is stiff today and perhaps even more so after reading something like that. please advise. is it normal to have a migraine for this long?

I've had many that last days and days. What kind of meds have you tried? Be careful about OTC's, they can cause rebound. Try cold compresses on your neck and massage your head. I fyou have a partner, friend, spouse, have they rub your head, forehead; that helps a lot; do stretches as well.
Wrote about neck stretching on another post, but I've copied them here: Otherwise try putting your head down; your chin toward your chest and while maintaining that angle, slowly roll your head all the way around, going left then right. DO that a couple of times each direction, but don't stretch to the point of pain. Another stretch is to look to your left as far as you can and then to your right. DO this slowly and several times each direction.
You may want to go to an urgent care; they may be able to give you something for the headache that won't break the bank...

hello janice,

thank you so much for writing. you are absolutely right about the OTC meds. it used to work for me to take excederin migraine. unfortunately, it only made my stomach feel bad. i ended up getting a Rosen session, basically bodywork done. it turns out that my neck had a lot to say. once i was able to unleash some old stories, i could feel my neck loosen up and my migraine was not as severe. it's wild how much stress i was bottling up in my neck which then triggered my migraine.

anyway, i feel a lot better now. i still have mini hints of a migraine but much more manageable. i trust that this will go away real soon. i'll also try your neck stretches to further facilitate the healing process.

thank you again for your support. i was a little worried that i may have to get an MRI that i could not afford!
