I am a 15 year old female and have been often misdiagnosed with many different kinds of migraines. I have had them for almost a year and I get about 3 a week.My symptoms are very stroke-like. No medication has been working very well, and I'm at a loss of what I should do. I have had a LP, CT, MRI, and blood work. I suffer from iron deficiancy anemia, and insomnia. I am going in for an MRA thursday and was wondering if anyone was misdiagnosed with basilar artery migraines, or if they use any medication that works, or if anyone has the same symptoms.

I'm not sure that my reply will help you much as I am having loads of fun (note the sarcasm) playing with different medications in an effort to manage what have been diagnosed as basilar migraines but if you have any specific questions I would be happy to share what information I can.
Stay strong and don't give up. Somewhere out there is a treatment (traditionally medical or otherwise) that will help you!

Glad that you are having an MRA - along with the other tests you have done it sounds like your doc is trying to rule out any other neurological conditions. Migraines are a rule out condition. I went 12 years looking for a diagnosis and trying to get someone to believe my symptoms. I was finally diagnosed with basilar migraines when I was 33 (I am now 52)...................I have not found any meds that work to prevent or abort the stroke-like symptoms. Do you know what your triggers are? For me, that has helped the best...........knowing what to avoid and listening closely to my body when it is telling me that I need to retreat and regroup. L
