This is my first post here, stumbled on this site by googling headache info.

As mentioned i have had a headache for 6 nights. Medicine seems to only offer temporary, partial relief. its always behind my left eye. I have been taking medication for these 6 nights, but before that not unless i had pain.

excedrin migrane ususally does it for me so i tried that the first day, although it ususally has me on the toilet, it was worth it for my head pains. i can easily treat that part with immodium. so the head pain wins.

this offered relief for maybe a day... then the pain, to almost hte same extent came back. this time i tried tylenol 1... again, felt better, temporarily. tried this again for a few nights (maybe 4 altogether).

tonight im just trying advil PM.

the kicker is that i used to take allergy meds with tylenol in them... not every single day but, often. switched to allegra figuring that not taking tylenol unless i needed it would make itwork better. (how wrong i feel right now!!!).

but, the kicker is that it has been raining here (of course off and on, not continuous) for about 6 days. and i do often get headaches/migranes telling me about the weather.

SO, is this a rebound headache, a long lasting migrane, recurrent weather triggers. all three??

it just scares the crap out of me because my aunt has had a headache (varies from dull to migrane and throwing up) for 25 years..... YEARS!! i am so beyond terrified to end up in those footsteps.

i also have CFS and these headaches are knocking me right on my arse energywise (as is the weather, none of it helps).

so my questions are what can i do abotu weather headaches? What can i do when my migrane medicine didnt work? What can i do being that i do have to go into work the little bit i can work, and cant just stay home and be in pain all day long? i dont want to call in too many times.......

ugh. shakehead

hi Pawprints :-)

Sorry you are in pain sad    Just wondering if you have tried any triptan medications to abort your migraine?

My migraines are always left sided behind the eye too and once I get that NOTHING works for me except triptans, I usually try with Anadin Extra (asparin, paracetemol and caffeine) but its hopeless really and after a few hours of the pain getting worse I usually end up reaching for the triptan medication (Naramig or Zomig for me). Then I usually sleep for a couple of hours until it kicks in.

This USUALLY will abort the migraine completely.  Occasionally I wake up the next day and headache has returned then I have to repeat the above but not often.

I know its horrible to take all this medication especially if you have side effects cry

Hope you feel better soon :-)

my mom has a zomig prescription actually... and i did toy with the idea, but then i was worried about taking a new medication, etc... may have made matters worse.

i am thinking of asking my doctor about it though... in more detail. (but when i told him i get weather headaches he said its common.... but for what to do he just said stay inside. thats what i did but i get them even inside... the humidity and whatnot seeps through the brick and still affects me.

Will i ever catch a break for more than 8 hours??? (yesterday was alright, until the night came... dull headache.... woke up with it being worse today. I feel like it will never just go away, for multiple days or even weeks!!)

hmm this got me thinking actually...i never related my headaches to the weather before but for some reason I was headache free for 4 wonderful days this week....did nothing different and even had one day where I had to face all my usual triggers (being in the sun, car journey, supermarket shopping) and stayed absolutely fine.  Then yesterday I woke with a dull headache that throughout the day turned into a migraine, I ended up taking a Zomig and even today the headache lingers a bit.  The only difference I can think off is that when I was feeling great it was beautiful weather here, sunny, not a cloud in the sky.  Then yesterday was a very overcast humid day so hot that I had to use the air conditioner in the evening.....am now wondering about this weather link !!

awh really feel for you Pawprint....I know exactly how you feel!

/hugs...

I had been suffering from migraine headaches for too long already. I usually deal my headache by relying to analgesics especially if it is intense. Every time I can’t tolerate pain I experienced chest palpitations. Thanks to the energy medicine, through the energy healing my symptoms started to dissipates. At first, it’s hard for me to just accept the fact & learn to live with it. After 20 minutes sessions with Paul (YM practitioner) I could see great improvement on my body and my headache was gone. As I continued my sessions with him, my overall physical issues were greatly improved! The headache is gone & I got the clarity of mind back. It's such an amazing experience.

cry I woke up at 4:00am this Tuesday morning with a terrible migraine! It's going to be a long day! I took a fioricet and I'm praying it works, but it usually doesn't do much. I have tried just about every med that the neurologist knows to give me. I take zanaflex, toradol, fioricet, kloipan, but not all at the same time. I have migranal nasal spray (DHE) but that doesn't help either. I can't take any of the tripitans due to the terrible side effects. I have checked into having Nerve Decompression Surgery, but so far my insurance has turned the surgery down. The surgery cost $15,000 and I don't have that much money lying around! I have had brain surgery several years ago and I think there is a nerve being compressed in my head. The plastic surgeon/neurologist said that there is probably scar tissue on the nerves causing me so much pain and if I were able to afford the surgery it would probably take care of my pain that I have on a daily basis. I'm praying that some way God will help me to be able to have this surgery. Hope you all have a migraine free day!

Blessings ~ :-)

awh feel bad for you Cindy.....I know only too well how it feels to wake with a migraine and know you are gonna be in pain all day more than likely.  For some reason the migraines I wake up with are the most difficult to treat and often the most painful and prolonged cry   I actually dread going to sleep sometimes because I never know if I'm going to wake up with one.  I'm off on holiday today with my family and I'm so dreading being ill while I'm there and having to go to bed.  Would be a miracle to get through the whole week without a headache!!

Really hope you feel better soon
