Would love some insight on this. I have been having migraines for years and nothing has helped. Had 2 MRI's which none came up with anything. Over the past 2 yrs my memory has been diminishing drastically. I had a blackout about a month ago and I ended up in the ICU for 2 days and regular admittance for 2, then I was released. Nothing was found! I only recall every 2 previous days and current day. I rarely remember conversations and tend to jumble my words a lot. Sometimes I forget where I am going or why I am in the car. I forget my age, my childrens age, and even who I am. My migraines havealso drastically gotten worse, throbbing on different sides of my head sometimes down my neck, pulsating, worse when I get up and walk, and sensitivity to light. Can last up to 24 hours, if not more. Any advice?? Yes, I have an appt. scheduled already but it's still a week away and was hoping for some insight before then. Thank You

Yes yes yes...I understand what you are going through and it must be alittle frightening for you. I know it was for me. I thought i had lost my mind. I am so happy you have a doctors appointment soon.

First of all are you on any medication? migraine med typically hinder your word recall.

It sounds to me as if you are having extreme migraines, or what is called Complex migraine. Instead of it hitting in one area of the brain it is effecting several areas.

You will be fine, I am sure, and I donot want to give you any contrary advice. I would be happy to let you know what my doctor has done for me, that has save me!

My doctor determined it was vasculitis potentially causing my migraines and the attack of the complex migraines. She recommended oxygen therapy to stimulate the flow of oxygen to the brain and cause dialation.
I also began taking gingko to further enhance the flow of blood to the brain etc. Since gingko does cause blood thinning you may want to check with your doctor or do some research before you start it.

I have found the combination to literally have saved my life. I am clear of thought, have energy back and best is that I have been migraine free. I am so thrilled after years of suffering that I have sought out migraine forums to share my information. I do not work in the health care industry etc. I only know that after years of getting lost in the supermarket, or losing "time", or looking like a nut because I cant remember a word, I am feeling good.

I know there is no concrete proof what causes migraines, but your discription of what you are going through sounds like I could have written it myself. However, I am older than you and am so sorry you are going through this with young children around who depend on you.

My base line advice is to be good to yourself and at least start with Aspirin, magnesium, and B vitamins.
