Have any of you had nerve blocks that have helped with your migraines?? please tell me they worked! I had several nerve blocks in my scalp today, and right now I am still in pain. The neurologist says that if it works it will last at least 2-3 months. How I would give anything almost to have 2 months migraine free....what am I talking about I would give anything to be migraine free for 2 days! I'm trying to stay optimistic that the nerve blocks will help. I am just taking fioricet, and zanaflex for the migraines. Nothing I've tried has helped yet.

Blessings,
Mercyme :-)

My son was given nerve blocks in his scalp and neck for his daily headaches. He was told that it would last for about 3-4 months. I'm sorry to say that it didn't work for him. The headaches continue.

Hi Mercyme,

I am pleased that you have tried the nerve blocks and hope you do well with them. I have had many of them over the years and have found them helpful in varying degrees. Each of us has a different response.

Some blocks can be effective for up to 3 months, but for me the one that lasted the longest lasted for 3 weeks!! But when you are in continuous pain 3 days is brilliant!!!! I would point out that they can sometimes take up to a week to work, but you usually feel some benefit within a few days.

Wishing you all the best with this.

take care

Ann

Thank you for your responses. No, the nerve blocks didn't give me much relief :( . Now my neurologist is working with a Compounding Pharmacy to make me a drug with Ergotomine in it. Guess I'll try it too! I'm trying to stay optimistic, but some times it can be so hard. I had to go have a crown two days ago, the bad thing about it was I had a migraine too! I had never been given nitrogen gas before but accepted it since I was already in pain and it did help some to help me relax. Now here I am sitting here typing with another tooth ache! I have to have a route canal on another tooth on Nov 2nd, praying I can make it that long. It doesn't take much to set off my migraines and having tooth aches is a BIG trigger. Now to pay for all this dental work! it cost $849.00 for a crown and another $800.00 for the route canal! and I have to have two. Prayers appreciate! :)

Gosh mercy, i am so sorry for all the tooth problems you are having. When it rains it pours eh!!

What will this compounded product do to help you? Sure wish the nerve blocks would have helped you.

I never had much success with them either. And I have also had tons of dental work done also.

Had my braces removed for a second time in June. Now being fitted with appliances top and bottom so my back

teeth don't touch to avoid any clenching. And in two weeks need gum grafting surgery which my last one

in dec. was so brutally painful. Will only have one left to go after that. I also had to have a root canal done

a couple weeks ago as well. So i can really feel for you in that departement.

I've had these continuous severe headaches for more than eleven years now and nothing has worked. My list

is quite long of everything i have tried.

Sure hope you get to feeling better soon.

Suzane
