I have had a migrain for almost a month now.  I wake up with it, have it all day, and go to bed with it, with it waking me up.  I went to the doc today and he gave me more meds.  The one he was counting on the most was Sprix, a nasal spray that feels like mace being sprayed up my nose.  I am going to get a MRI.  But I am absolutely miserable.  I don't know what to do.  I need some relief.  Suggestions?  Home Remedies?  Seriously, I need help!

Thanks,

Tiger

Hi Tiger Shea,

Welcome to Healing Well. Sorry to hear that you are suffering. I think you need to see a Neurologist, preferable one who is a Headache Specialist to find the right way forward for you. In the mean time has your Doc considered any of the 'triptan' family of meds or some sort of preventative treatment???

Please see a Headache Specialist - you won't regret it!! Let me know how you get on?

take care

Ann

I am currently on topromax right now. I have tried others but they don't work. Topromax worked for a whille. Imitrex use to work but doesn't anymore. I have tried lots of meds. I didn't know they had Headache Specialist. I have been to the neurologist. idk, I just want it to stop.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I do understand the constant pain. I went several months with one before starting on topamax, and it recently started to become less effective. We are currently increasing my dose to see if that will help. I completely agree with Annuk - see a neurologist who specializes in headaches. It is worth it. Migraine Research Foundation website has a list of doctors that are certified in headache medicine. Maybe there is a doctor on the list that is near you? I went to one of the doctors on the list in my area and he was great. I didn't find out he was on this list until after I had been referred to him. I googled his name and this list came up in the search. I was pretty fed up with doctors by the time I was referred to him, so it put my mind at ease to know that I was at least being sent to someone who knew something about headaches based on the evaluation of a non-profit medical organization, and not just the glowing description on his practice's website.

I hope you find something to relieve your pain soon!
