Hi... I'm new to this forum... so hopeful I won't make a fool of myself.  On December 26th 2005 at around 3pm, my head started hurting.  6 years later... it's still hurting.  I have seen enough primary care physicians and neurologist, to write my own book.  The last neurologist sent me to see a Pain specialist, since every drug he has given me has either not helped or diminish the pain.  The Pain specialist, 2-3 weeks ago told me that there is nothing else he can do for me.  This is after having 3 occipital nerve blocks as well as two 3rd occipital nerve blocks.  I have an appoint with a new pain specialist in Richmond next week.

I have had CT scans, MRIs, MRAs, as well as EEGs.  I can’t keep living in constant pain.

Does anyone know something else I can do?

hello zukermon, I believe you will have these headaches because of all the nerve issues you have in your present/past. The biggest problem is that many doctors judge their patients and classify them all in the same category. Headaches everyday is no good. I too have headaches everyday. The only thing help me is taking Topamax and Maxalt. But I don't like to take them everyday. I believe all of the trauma I've experienced in my life caused my body to to began to fight against it self with and autoimmune disease. Now that I have been told I have Lupus it explains a lot of my symptoms but the nerve damage is still there and overlooked as a key problem. Ive always been told if your nerve health and spinal health is wacked then your whole system is wacked.

Although you have had migraines since your were 8 are there any triggers? When I was a child I was diagnosed with cluster headaches. I noticed once I was an adult that soda, tea and chocalate were triggers or monthly cycle would bring on a migraine. I hope you find relief soon. Maxalt helps me when I take it with the Toradol and Imitrex. Once the maxalt melt I get quiet and my headache usually slack up into a dull ache instead of a pounding ache.

My neurologist prescribed Imitrex tablets, Imitrex injection, Maxalt, Treximet and Toradol. I do a triad and it helps. i.e. I take the Toradol/Imitrex tab/maxalt or Toradol/Maxalt/Injection or treximet/toradol/injection. It puts me to sleep but it was prescribed for me. When I wake up, the headache is gone. It helps tremendously. Ask your neurologist what he thinks about trying you on two or three meds consecutively. It may sound like I'm over medicated but it helps. I also have Lupus and it brings on migraines to (I believe). I'm newly diagnosed and don't know much about Lupus. But I understand your pain and hope your neurologist call you back, if not, call them back. Oh, regarding your stomach pain from vomiting I used mylanta/pepto. It somewhat coated my stomach. Now I take Famatodine on a daily.

Keep calling your Neuro until you gain results. Maybe the nurse wrote your number on a sticky without a name. Call them first thing in the morning!
