I had my first migraine when I was 7 months pregnant with my first son - woke in the middle of the night and went to the ER room. I would have them every now and then, mostly brought on, I thought (and yes, this does play into it) by stress. 15 years since my first migraine, I have seen a strong link btw hormones and migraines. I take birth control pills - Yasmin - every day and tried to go off of them and then whammy! I don't like being on birth control pills  - in fact I have had my tubes tied so really not necessary. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Also, anyone had the same thing and went through menapause and if so, did it get better or worse? I'm 40 and if I am like my mom, will go through menopause early.

Thanks, Liz

I've been told my migraines are linked to hormones. I've had them for over ten years since high school. It wasn't until I saw my neuro's female nurse that she told me they were linked to hormones. I always get migraines when I ovulate and during my period. They will occur during other times too but I am guarenteed to have them, and have them bad, during those two times of the month.

I was really happy to find that info out for myself...it lets me remember to put more than one migraine treatment in my purse. :)
