Hi Everyone,

I'm new to here. I'm 36 yrs old & a mom who is Bipolar and suffers from Migraines. I've been taking topamax for about 3 months now. I started out @ 25 mg & Dr has increased me to 100 mg presently. My memory is terrible, if I don't write everything down I don't remember things, I have constant numbness and tingling in my fingers & toes also its now in my face (lips & nose), and I'm getting migraines a couple times a week (it's supposed to preventing them)? Not to mention the nausea & I've stopped drinking soda (the taste is awful). I've made an appointment to see a neurologist to look further into. I fractured my skull about 15 yrs ago and was in a coma for 3 weeks that's why I feel I have these migraines. I just want some relief. Also about 2 1/2 months ago my whole left side of body became so heavy it felt like someone was holding a weight down on me, and I had tightness in my chest, pain in my neck all while I was in bed, I just went to sleep and then I was fine the next day but don't know what it was. I seen a pulmonary specialist today and he said it's possible I suffered a mini stroke. They are trying to get me in to see the neurologist before July 30, because he's concerned. They are going to do a CT and MRI to check my head. If anyone has some advice or suggestions.

The side effects will lessen with time. You will be able to enjoy a soda again. Your memory will get better. You won't tingle all over forever. The nausea does go away and food does taste good again! I have been taking the med for 19 months now and all these things came true for me and I am pretty sure if it happened to me, it will happen to you too. I take 150mg daily and it does not take away the migraines completely. I have revamped my lifestyle completely for migraine control and I still don't have these things figured out.

Thank you for your comments. It is comforting to know there is light on the other side of the tunnel.
