Hi I'm new here! I'm a 30 yr old woman with 3 kids!
I just want to start off with I've been seeing halos and star bursts for years now! It's everyday all day! I have had 3 MRI s and an mra of the head! I now have after images especially if my eyes are dry! I do have severe anxiety panic attacks and depression! I been to 3 neurologists, ent, neuro opthamologist, head and ear doctor for ringing in my ear! No diagnosis! Ahhhh! I don't know it's a bother especially the after images! Any advice or doctors you know who could help? I keep thinking the worse! I am a ovarian cancer survivor!
Yay me! But all this happened way before my cancer diagnosis last year! sad

Teal, That is a lot to cope with before you are 30yrs.-old. The neurologists' should have given you an answer. But since they aren't, you may need to do all the research yourself.

I have done research galore! I even thought what if I have a brain aneurysm but my mra which looks at the blood vessels came out fine!
My neuro strongly believes I'm having stong silent migraines those are all symptoms! How did you find out about yours?!!

I don't have 'migraines'. I do have a congenital brain aneurysm, that I have had for 45yrs.. Did you have a second MRA to confirm the findings of the first one?

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I agree, your neuro doctor should have given you an answer a long time ago. Have you considered getting a second opinion on the matter? If he believes they're strong silent migraines then he should be doing something to help you manage them at the very least but it sounds like he's not. It's good to know that he's ruled out all the big possibilities so you can least put your mind at ease about that however it is important he try to help you manage the pain.

Have you tried taking iron supplements? I hear they're a great way to lesson the effects of a migraine to at least a tolerable level. Please dear, speak with your doctor about how to fix this, tell him you just can't take much more and he should help you, if he doesn't look elsewhere for a doctor who has your best interests.

Thank you Faith 213! I can't even begin to express from specialist to specialist and they all say I don't know but probably migraines just to give a diagnosis! I've pleaded with 3 doctors to help me and whatever tests needs to be done I'll do it! Cause in reality I can't take it much longer! I'm getting a second opinion on a neuro opthamologist but my neurologist office was so rude to me! They made me sound like I needed help! I did tell them that I am of sound mind and that I have to deal with these issues everyday they don't! Well they say your MRI looked good! That's it no more test suggestions or elimination process what they think it could be just here is more mess see you back!

Teal Sister - it sounds as though you have endured enough appointments, tests and getting poked and probed without any answers.

Here is my suggestion. When you absolutely cannot stand the pain another minute, hop in your car and drive to your nearest Emergency Room. I'm told migraines account for the greatest number of ER visits, so why should you not be one of them? The good thing about going to the ER is 1. they will medicate the migraine and you will experience quick relief.  2. If you seem like you are in enough pain and you tell them how long these headaches have been going on with no relief, they may bring in a neurologist on call (I recommend you go to the ER Monday - Friday during normal business hours). The neurologist can prescribe for you a prescription med that will hopefully help, and ask you to follow up with him/her. 3. If any additional tests are needed, they will conduct them then and there. AGain, it's imperative that the staff will take their cues from you and how disabled you appear to be.

I wouldn't tolerate the shabby way you've been treated a minute longer. Sometimes the ER is the fastest way to get the help you haven't been able to receive through "the system" as you tried to follow the rules. Good luck.

Well maybe I should get on mystery diagnosis!
Trying to stay calm and collected! I also have hope and faith some days better than others! Tried the whole emergency room thing and nothing they had no clue!!!!!! I have an appointment with rheumatologist to rule out autoimmune diseases. But that still doesn't answer any of my questions to my visual disturbances! sad

Hi I suffered from headaches and dizziness all my life. 5 years ago I discovered that I was Salicylate Intolerant, allergic to aspirin and all foods containing salicylates. Aspirin is a salicylate that comes form the bark of the willow tree. All plants produce salicylates as a natural insecticide. It is in things likes fruit, most vegetables, tomato sauce, olive oil and many more. Theres a good list of foods in the book,"Salicylate Intolerance and The Healthier I Ate the Sicker I Got."

Right before I hit bottom I had such a pain in my right eye that I went for a CAT scan to rule out a tumor. Once I went on a low sal diet I got rid of my headaches, dizziness, nausea, neck pain, arthritis, asthma, dry eyes, nosebleeds, ringing in my ears, and a foggy headed feeling.
Check out sickfromsalicylates.com
No one should just accept a diagnosis of Cluster Headaches when they can prevent them by finding out whats causing them. Its usually a food intolerance. Unfortunately there is no test for Salicylate Intolerance because it isnt an allergy. You have to go off the foods that are high and very high in sals and see how you feel. God bless you on being a cancer survivor. Good luck, Joan
