I was recently told I have atypical migraines. I have spells I call them of, confusion, weird sensation that Im losing touch with whats going on. Feels like I could pass out but never do. Numbness in my face. Dizziness for just a second or two. Not room spinning dizziness just a quick unstable feeling. Sometimes I get a headache and sometimes not. I feel like it sometimes stems from my neck and my neck and shoulder will get very tight and almost like a creepy crawly feeling goes up the back of my neck, and the pain will travel from my neck to my ear to my eye. Wondering if anyone else feels like this and what are you doing to help it. Im on a migraine diet and my doc also told me to take 400mg of B2 vitamin.

What is migraine diet?

I am taking 400mg of Magnesium citrate and 400mg of B2 daily, along with prescription meds.
Diagnosed March 2007 with left sided UC at the age of 30.
Currently on,
Colazal 9 daily, Imuran, 200mg daily, Vit. B12, 1mg, Multivitamin, 1 tablet daily, Fish oil 2400mg daily, Vit D 2000 IU daily.

Verapamil 320mg for migraine, Migraine episode now at least 4X a month,
Nabumetone 750mg as an abortive, so far so good with GI side effects.

It's no chocolate, alcohol, certain citrus fruits, no bananas, no hotdogs, sausage, bacon, no fresh baked breads, no nuts, no aged cheese. American cheese is ok. They gave me a print out at Yale, however you can google it and find it online.

Frankly, any person who wants to be healthy should follow the above mentioned diet, excepts nuts, unless you have an allergy.

I am super surprised that you got that list at Yale. WHatever I have read so far, there is no such diet. In alcohol, red wine can be trigger due to sulphites but if thats what your doc wants...

Are you on any Rx meds?

The doctor at Yale said to try the diet first with the B2 vitamin and see if it helps. He said they treat migraines with anti depressants or beta blockers first and then if that doesnt help he would prescribe something else. I started 5 mg of Lexapro and it has helped some. Trying my best to not eat anything Im not suppose to.
