My father wantedme to try and find a corraspondant who has a happy ending with occipital neuralgia. He lived undiognosed  with a extreme case of this disease for years. Since he was diagnosed hes been to see numerous doctors all over the country who has not known what to do or hesitated with treatment with the concerns of making the condition worse.

I will state that medicine is not an option. He has tried just about every pain killer, arthritis medicine, epilepsy medicine, ect... available and recommended for this condition with zero results. He was drugged to the extent that between it and the pain he was a walking zombie. Botox also did not work. He wants the problem rectified, not masked. He recieves an electric shock-like pain every 30 seconds.

A year ago he started seeing a new doctor who lives a 15 hour drive away. He has been given laser treatments a few times which has relieved some of the pain but he still suffers more than any peron should. The doctors alsowill not do an implant for fear of worsening the condition.

Is there anyone out there that has had a severe case of this disease and got the help needed. Hes been depresses for years now and I am terrified he has given up hope.Hes tired of fighting a losing battle. Please help

Has he tried anti-depressants or anti-hypertensives? Has he tried triptan derivatives? Has he tried Ergotamine? Has he seen a headache specialist? Whats his lifestyle like? What kind of food he eats, junk steak or healthy vegetables? Tons of unanswered questions.
Diagnosed March 2007 with left sided UC at the age of 30.
Currently on,
Colazal 9 daily, Imuran, 200mg daily, Vit. B12, 1mg, Multivitamin, 1 tablet daily, Fish oil 2400mg daily, Vit D 2000 IU daily.

Verapamil 320mg for migraine, Migraine episode now at least 4X a month,
Nabumetone 750mg as an abortive, so far so good with GI side effects.
