Last Tuesday, I got a headache. Not a terrible eye-gouging one, but it still hurt. I stayed home. Same for Wednesday. I went to the doc on Wednesday afternoon, she basically just told me I probably had a neck strain and had gotten my headache from that. Thursday, I still had a tiny headache, but I felt more dizzy. Friday I had both a tiny headache, with a bit of dizziness, and it was on and off. Over the weekend, my dizziness has gotten considerably better, same for my headaches, they still lurk around though. My question is: Is this actually a migraine?

how did it pain? did you feel nauseated? did you see sparkles in front of your eyes or black hole etc.

Did you take any OTC pain medication like Tylenol, Advil or Alleve?

Did you get any neck/head injury in recent past (or even a few years ago)?

What is your lifestyle? How much you weigh? It could be as simple as your posture..
Diagnosed March 2007 with left sided UC at the age of 30.
Currently on,
Colazal 9 daily, Imuran, 200mg daily, Vit. B12, 1mg, Multivitamin, 1 tablet daily, Fish oil 2400mg daily, Vit D 2000 IU daily.

Verapamil 320mg for migraine, Migraine episode now at least 4X a month,
Nabumetone 750mg as an abortive, so far so good with GI side effects.

Okay, it hurt on both sides of my head, as an ache, I generally didn't feel nauseated and have the headache, but sometimes I did. No sparkles or black holes. I took some Panadol, which may be an Australian thing. It's paracetamol basically. I had 1 or 2 of those every day. No, no previous neck injuries. I spend a fair amount of time on the computer and in front of the tv, I weigh 70 kilos, which is 154 pounds. It's also spring, going into summer at the moment. It's getting better every day though, which is awesome. Just curious as to what it actually is.

To me, it doesn't look like migraine but I am not a doctor, I am commenting from what I have read and experienced. Migraine usually feels like throbbing headache, feels like heartbeat in the head, at one or more places.

Next time, if it strikes, try Ibuprofen, do not exceed the recommended dose and see if it helps better. Usually NSAIDs help in migraines way better than Paracetamol (Acetaminophen in the US). If you spend a fair amount of time in front of the computer then you should seriously take a look at your posture. If your workplace offers Occupational Therapist consultation, you should get one. Do you get pollen outbreak during this time, if yes, may be this is allergic reaction. Give a try to antihistaminic as well.

Preferably, have a word with your PCP and see what s/he has to say.

I went to the doctor, they basically said it sounds like a mix of stress, heat and poor posture. It's better now, so I'm gonna put it down to that and call it a day.

Good to hear that it isn't anything major, at the same time don't call it a day. These things aggravate over the period of time and end up with something else. My posture is bad too but DW is a physical therapist so she corrects me all the time. Bad posture can lead to weakening of muscles and lead to headaches (Possibly one of the cause with my migraine because my migraine starts from the neck).

You know what to do with stress, yoga, meditation etc.
Heat, take care from the heat. I HATE heat, anything about 70F triggers headache in me.
Posture, go to OT and fix it soon.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna just go back to the way everything was. I'm definitely going to look into the posture, I'm keeping hydrated, and stress is just because of exams in a week. I should also try and cut back on the TV and video games too, I doubt they're good for the eyes -> headaches. Strangely enough, this is the first time I've had a headache that's lasted this long. Maybe I usually keep more hydrated. Also, I'm spending more time at my computer, rather than on the couch, like I used to, so maybe my chair is bad. Anyway, cheers for the advice, I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, so I always like to find out what's up with me.
