Hi everyone,
My name is Kelly and I am 29. I have four great kids and work as a CNA. Fairly healthy until now. I am totally lost and in pain. My headache started October 7th and woke me out of a sound sleep. Intense pain on the right side of my head, just above my ear. I took some ibprofin and that dulled the pain a bit. Headache stayed with me and I kept taking otc meds including excedrin. Finally went to urgent care on Oct 16th and the Doc gave me antibitiotics and norco thinking I might have a sinus infection. Took those and still had headache. Went to a different doctor on the 24th and he gave me a steroid shot in the head as well as a 7 day course of steroid pills and Fioricet. Headache went away for the week that I was on the steroid pills and for about 4 days after. Then it came back full force. Leaves me where I am at today. Taking two Fioricets at a time helps me but I can still feel pain. It feels like I have a swollen vein in my head. The place where my head hurts never changes. Its right there above my ear and behind the eye. I have another doctors appointment on the 20th but lately the pain is so bad I feel like I need to go to the ER and the only thing stopping me is that I have no insurance so I am attempting to make it through the week. I am scared that something is seriously wrong :/ Has anyone had anything similar?

Do you have a throbbing pain? Does this period of headache coincide with your 'monthly days'? I am so clueless why the docs here give antibiotics for sinus infection. It is usually a viral infection and sinus infection, if it is, usually is IN the sinuses, not above the ears (I never had there). Do you feel nauseated?

If Fioricet is helping you then most likely, its migraine. If you run out of Fioricet, you could give a try to Alleve as well but do NOT exceed recommended dose. If 2 within a period of 8 hours don't help then its not working (Take one, wait for 2 hours, if it doesn't help take another one after 2 hours and thats about it). If you don't have alleve on hand, you could give a try to Exedrin migraine or Bayer migraine (You could try store brands of these medication, talk to the pharmacist). Get an appointment with a neurologist and before you will up whatever you are prescribed, ask for a sample. They usually have it, so that you don't fill up prescription for something that doesn't work for you.

Take a look at to find who sells your prescription cheapest and call in advance to confirm. Usually I can not read whatever any of my docs write on prescription so I ask them and write it down myself.
Diagnosed March 2007 with left sided UC at the age of 30.
Currently on,
Colazal 9 daily, Imuran, 200mg daily, Vit. B12, 1mg, Multivitamin, 1 tablet daily, Fish oil 2400mg daily, Vit D 2000 IU daily.

Verapamil 320mg for migraine, Migraine episode now at least 4X a month,
Nabumetone 750mg as an abortive, so far so good with GI side effects.
