Hello all, it's been a while since I last posted. I have been having migraines since my total hysterectomy in 2009.

I started with your regular run of the mill migraines, then they changed to month long migraines, then I started with a ton of neuro symptoms.

I am currently on my 5 th day of migraine. I started with what I guess would be a silent migraine, numbness on left side face, balance issues, stomach issues, and things have progressed to left eye drooping (not uncommon for me) confusion, not able to eat, tons of visual auras, dropping things from my hands, ect. I am seeing my neuro tomorrow at noon.

My question is, what are cluster headaches like? I am having headaches in intervals throughout the day. They can range from a 5 on the pain scale to an 8, and last about two hrs. This has been going on for two days now. From what I understand cluster headaches are the most severe, and I have not felt a 10 on the pain scale. However, my neuro symptoms get worse when the headache is present, and even tho the headache goes away briefly, the neuro symptoms are a constant.

I have had CT, MRI, MRA, ultrasound of the jugular vein, ect and am clear, except for some "white matter" in the brain.

I am on hormone replacement, smoke, mad have MTHFR, which from my reading can " increase" stroke risk.....

Anyone have any ideas if all this sounds like cluster? I have thought that I may have hemipalgic ,ingrained, due to my left sided weakness and eye droop. Is it possible to develop both types of migraine?

Sounds like Lyme disease. Have you looked into that?

Some of the symptoms are pretty much like mine, plus you also have UC.

What abortives you have tried? You can not use regular NSAIDs but if you can get hold of Nabumetone sample, give it a try. If that helps, at least you have an abortive. I started with oral Mg (CItrate form) and B2 400mg twice daily, plus got a Magnesium oil spray for neck massaging and frequency reduced to 3X a month from 4X a month in a month.

I would maintain headache diary and see a headache specialist, not a regular neurologist. Please check my other posts on what items to include in headache diary. I am sorry, mods and admins here are not responding to my query to make a sticky so I can not type so much over and over.
Diagnosed March 2007 with left sided UC at the age of 30.
Currently on,
Colazal 9 daily, Imuran, 200mg daily, Vit. B12, 1mg, Multivitamin, 1 tablet daily, Fish oil 2400mg daily, Vit D 2000 IU daily.

Verapamil 320mg for migraine, Migraine episode now at least 4X a month,
Nabumetone 750mg as an abortive, so far so good with GI side effects.

I have hemiplegic migraines. When they hit there isno break for them until they are gone completely. They do cause numbness on my left side, starting at my fingertips, and it numb s everything even my tongue. I lose my vision in my left eye and sometimes I start slurring my speech and can't use the words I'm thinking of.
All of that just to say that when one hits me it lasts until its run its course. I take anti seizure medication and I have pain medicine as a breakthrough to help control the pain. I did go to a neurologist who specializes in headaches. He is very helpful and fully understanding of what I deal with. I really think you should find a neurologist who specializes. Just ask when you calm their office. There is no reason to suffer, plus migraines with neurological effects can raise your risk for strokes. Please, keep is informed.
