Go away pain!! Ugh, I'm 33 and I'm pretty awesome most days but somedays OMG I'm the devil because of these stupid headaches. They started at about age 31...is that weird to start at that age? Before then I would say about age 20 I was having mild pressure symptoms over my eyes but I always thought it was allergy/sinus related.

My allergy dr would put me on antibiotics thinking sinus infection and the pain would go away temporarily. about a year ago my allergy dr said now drs are saying about 85-90% of people who think they are having sinus headaches are actually having migraine headaches and she referred me back to my general practioner. I told him about my headaches and how they are almost daily...sometimes I have good days but lately they are far and few between. He said he was going to put me down for general headaches and to try 20mg amitriptine at bedtime, I never started it as I researched it and its also an antidepressant so I'm scared to take it ..

A few months ago I went to a different dr and he did a mono test which came back positive and then did a virus titer showing I was in the recovery phase of mononucleosis. My headaches ARE a little better then they were two months ago and the real bad ones are fewer.  However, now all my headaches are on the left side ..my left eye feels pressure and the left side of my forehead is tender to the touch. My left ear is popping and feels like pressure is in there and feels tight during the headache. My left temple hurts terrible and all the muscles around my left ear hurt.

I should also note I've figured out there are certain foods that make this worse. Fruity pebbles is killer, chocolate is a no no :(, mozzarella kills me, pizza kills me, certain preservatives do it to me..dried foods, wine or anything cooked on wine is death for me. Does this sound migraine-ish? Also when I have these headaches I get somewhat dizzy, off balanced and spaced out feeling, like foggy. I get tired and pissy. Ibuprofen is all I have been taking for them and it takes the edge off but isn't 100% pain/symptom relieving. My ear feels so tight and stuffed up on the left side when I get these I feel like I have an ear infection, but I don't think it's that. Any advice/input/good drugs :) you can give me would be much appreciated!!

Try the amitriptine as its used to treat migraines as well as depression, so my vote is for you to try this medication, then if it helps woohoo...
However, I would urge you to seek out a neurologists, one that specializes in migraines, not all neurologist specialize in migraines so you'll need to call around, maybe get an head mri done, sometimes migraines show on mri's.
keep us posted as we do care.
and yes both chocolate and alcohol can bring on migraines, so I switched to dark chocolate which helps me...many well wishes

There is also a dark hot cocoa mix which taste good, but try dark chocolate first to make sure it doesn' t bring on a migraine, also another trigger is for women before your monthly cycle, I hate that trigger.

I will start my hunt for a neurologist as these headaches are driving me batty! I had one today but it was pretty mild. I want to try the amitriptyline ...from what I've read online it's helped a lot of headache sufferers. I did have an MRI done of my head about 8 mos ago and it was normal, thank goodness. I take a low dose muscle relaxer at night and it seems to ease some of my headaches which makes me wonder if some of them are tension. However, the bad ones...where I can barely walk and everything is unsteady...nothing really touches those but then again the only thing I've tried are ibuprofen and the muscle relaxer. Thanks for the tips on the dark chocalate...I will try, I love m and m's and was so sad to give them up but what a lovely day it would be to be able to tolerate the dark chocolate ones !!! :) thanks for your replies!
