My girlfriend suffered severe lifelong chronic migraines. Oral magnesium helps a lot but for the past year or so topically applied magnesium chloride brine has really been effective. Applied especially to the neck and shoulder areas has stopped the migraines while they were still in the shadow phase. Waiting until the aura phase would be too late. She uses Life-Flo magnesium oil.
Her theory is that muscular hypercalcemia may be mitigated by the absorbed magnesium besides the magnesium being a natural muscle and vascular relaxer. She no longer has the horrible stiffness and pain in her neck and shoulder areas. Of course she practices yoga daily for flexibility.
If you find that the mag oil stings then you can wipe it off with a wet rag.
