Since the end of June I've been having migraines daily. The pain lessens but never goes away completely. I've been to my general doctor and a neurologist and tried six different medications as well as had CT Scans. I miss on average two days a week from work and I sleep a lot (I always have but when I have a headache I sleep even more). My right eye is usually really painful and sometimes I can't see or see well out of it for a couple of days. I can't seem to find any triggers or even know when it's coming. I just seem to wake up with it. I am afraid for my job, I'm now suffering from depression, my relationship with my husband is strained, and I have two little kids. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or has had a similar experience? I'm really at the end of my rope here. I had no idea migraines could last this long. I'm beginning to think I'm nuts.

The neuro said its chronic migraine. They put me on a medication that made my tongue coat over and swell a bit ( I can't remember what it was called) and now I'm on propranolol. They are trying it in increasing doses but I've had very little relief. Does anything work for you?

Don't take it if it swells! It is an allergic reaction. Tell your dr

While you are working on a solution for your chronic migraines, it probably wouldn't hurt to discuss the depression with your doctor. He may suggest an antidepressant to help get through this situation. Some antidepressants help in lowering pain from migraines, too. So maybe you could find a medication to help both. Good luck.

Hey there... I don't know if it helps, but I'm experiencing some of the same issues... and yes, it does feel like I'm going crazy sometimes.... I noticed about 2 yrs ago that I was saying that I had a headache every day and I decided to start looking for answers...
I should also say that I've had headaches since I was a little kid, but I was also severly allergic and a severe asthmatic... I was on a ton of different meds as a kid and who knows how those have effected my health as an adult....
To get back to the point, I started looking for answers... I went to an ENT who did a CT scan and decided that the openings in my nasal passages were almost non-existant... I had a procedure done, a baloon sinuplasty and I was really hoping that it would help with the headaches... I will say that it was a success as far as helping with chronic sinus infections, but it didn't do anything about my headaches....
My next step was going to a neurologist... the one I went to see put me on topamax... unfortunately, I pretty much had every severe side effect you can possibly have... it made my joints swell up to the point of excruciating pain and I really did think I was going crazy because one minute I'd be happy, the next mad, and the next sad... I took it for a week before I had to quit taking it if for no other reason that I had one shoulder that was totally locked in place from the swelling...
To try to shorten this down a bit, I've had 2 CT scans, 3 MRI's, a balloon sinuplasty, and a spinal tap.... I've been on Topamax, Effexor, Flexeril, Depakote, and another pain med and nothing has helped yet... I work 12 hr shifts, so I'm lucky enough to get a bunch of days off during the week, but I've still had to miss a lot of work because of these headaches... to top it all off, about 6 months ago I developed a new symptom... the right side of my face swells up when I'm having the really bad migraine days...

so yeah, you're not nuts... or if you are, than I am too.... at least you're not alone in it....
