I'm a regular in the chronic pain section, but this is my first time posting here. I'm a 44 year old male and I've been getting headaches every day, usually multiple times daily for at least 6 months and maybe a year now. I've been taking 800 mg of Ibuprofen to treat the headaches...Additionally, I'm taking 10 mg of Oxycodone 4-6 times daily for a host of other chronic pain issues. I never take the Oxycodone for the headaches specifically. I just heard of something called "Rebound Headaches" which apparently can occur with prolonged use of certain pain relievers to treat chronic headaches. Both Ibuprofen & Oxycodone are listed as possible contributors of "Rebound Headaches." Is anyone familiar with "Rebound Headaches?" I would appreciate all feedback regarding chronic headaches. Thanks.

Oh yes, I'm very familiar with them. I have other health issues, too. I was taking tylenol for regular headaches and arthritis pain (I can't take nsaids) and the headaches just kept getting worse. I called my neurologist and he said it was the tylenol causing the rebound headaches. He prescribed norco for migraines and I got voltaren gel for my arthritis.
If you suspect you are having rebound headaches you should talk to your doctor. Your doctor can help you find new medications that won't have the same result.

to angeilc_victory, if you are getting rebound headaches from tylenol it doesn't seem wise for your doctor to prescribe norco as each norco tablet contains 325mg of tylenol. i would recommend asking about vicoprofen but you can't take nsaids :(
