I have had migraines for years, but 10 months ago I began having constant, extremely painful migraines with aura and many difficult neuological symptoms (problems with vision, speech, memory, spelling, writing, and more). My PCP diagnosed basilar migraines and started me on topamax. After a few weeks, he referred me to a neurologist who diagnosed complex migraine syndrome, but said he wasn't convinced of basilar. My MRI results were perfect, as was the blood work, etc. He increased the topamax to 100mg per day. It was horrible! I was a zombie; completely confused, couldn't recall words or names, simply could not function. After 7 weeks, I stopped the topamax and he prescribed inderol. I am not having headaches now, but still notice my memory is not as good as it used to be. Has anyone else had the memory problems with the constant migraine headaches? My neuro says it's all due to migrainous (sp?) changes. Will this continue to improve? I have no other health problems. Any similar stories out there?
