This is my first post in this chat room. I usually post in chronic pain. So I am hoping someone here can be of help. My migraines started at the age of 9. They have progressively worsened over the years. I am now 47. Although I was told that as I aged I would outgrow the migraines or that they would lessen, that has been the complete opposite of what has occurred. I take Imitrex 6mg injections for the headaches. I also use Migranal nasal spray, I always try this first before the shot because of the cost of the injections.
I have recently started seeing a PM dr. for my back problems, and I have had really good results. I have several herniated discs in my cspine and several in my lumbar, along with DDD and spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, possible lupus, severe osteoarthritis in all of my joints and have had both knees completely reconstructed. 1 knee has been done 2x. I have balance problems which results in everyday falls causing big time injuries. Like torn rotater cuff, broken hand and an ankle that is full of screws and pins. Not sure if the migraines have anything to do with the balance.
The new PM doc suggested a procedure for my migraines, I cannot recall what it is called. It is not using Botox. But he would sedate me and perform an injection or injections along the base of my skull. He said it works better for people that their migraines start in the neck and work forward. Which mine do 80% of time. Is anyone familiar with what I am describing? And has it worked for anyone and do you feel the pros outweighed the cons?
Any info would be appreciated.
