I have finally signed up and decided to write my story.
I have suffered headaches all my life,I am 36 years old.I have been used to taking 4 to 6 tablets of ibuprofen daily to help them.3 years ago I had an accident, forehead laceration,17 stitches and a minor concussion,my headaches obviously increased.I have always had a drinking lifestyle, with drinking I would have these episodes,rt.side paralization, looks like i am having a seizure.3 years ago after my accident I had seen a neurologist, for my migraines and my episodes. My episodes didn't always occur when I drank but only occured when I had alcohol, could be a few sips or a few full drinks. My episodes would last from a few minutes to a half hour. When I saw the neurologist re: my migraines and episodes he diagnosed me with hemiplegic migraines.I was on 100mg of zoloft daily for anxiety. He put me on amitryptaline and fioricet when needed.I started off with taking 1 fioricet when needed. Then couple months later ended up taking more.I was so excited and felt so wonderful not having headaches regularly.I realized the fioricet helped me feel good and normal, not in pain anymore!.Of course I coninued to up my dosage that I was taking daily to about 6-8 pills a day.I moved back to my home state 8 months ago to be closer to family again after 11 years. My dosage went up significantly and had been taking up to 13-14 pills a day.5 months ago a saw a general practioner and she took me off the amitryptaline and put me on Propanalol(beta blocker) 2 times a day.Because I was taking so much fioricet I had not been able to tell if I and when I was having headaches,I would just make sure I was taking the Fioricet and I would feel great.I had gotten a job that required 70mile each way drive, and a job that was very stressful,so I felt like I needed and had to have the Fioricet at all times. If I wasn't being prescribed them I would buy them off the Internet.I was unable to drink any alcohol the past year due to taking so much Fioricet,if I drank alcohol I would instantly get sick and vomit alot! So I have been proud that my drinking had decreased which then also I havent had any of my hemiplegic episodes.I quit my stressful job and wanted help to get off the Fioricet,I went to my doctor and she said she couldn't help.I called 3 different hotlines and many facilities to try and get help and no one could or would since I had no insurance.I decided to do at home detox on my own.It has been almost 3 months,I ordered more pills! I was down to 2  a day then to 4 and now back to 2 a day.I cannot seem to get past the fact of not having them at all! I am getting stress from my family memebers as to why I am not working and I'll tell you I'm scared that I may not be able to get back out to the real world without having my Fioricet at my disposal. Not only has the detox been physically rough but mentally also. The anxiety, naseau, vomitting, shaking. Then nervouseness, irritablitly, sleeping alot or restless sleep, this is and has been a nightmare.Fioricet is addicive and I highly recommend to anyone out there to find another source to help your migraines.I know I am on a long road to figuring out how I am going to get better, between the Fioricet addiction and still having migraines, and having hemiplegic episodes. Thanks for all your stories on here

I tried Fiorcet and it didn't help my migraines at all. I think your problems at this point go far beyond the migraines. You need to get help for your substance abuse issues. I understand you're not insured but there are usually groups you can join that may help, like NA. I think it's great that you were down to 2 pills a day but even 2 a day is a lot. You really shouldn't be taking these pills every day. You should see a different neurologist and possibly a psychiatrist since you're on an antidepressant. Maybe there is something else out there that can help you keep your symptoms at bay. I took pristq for migraines for quite a while and it helped me immensely. It is also an antidepressant and non-narcotic.
