I've never had a headache until about a month ago when I woke at 2 in the morning with complete head pain/pressure, the worst pressure being in my temples. I had tingling in my arms so severe that it felt like they were on fire. I also had a brain fog, which I had had a couple times before, but not with any other symptoms. The strangest thing that happened was (and my neurologist and psychiatrist had never heard of this) I became severely depressed. I suffered from clinical depression years ago so I know what it feels like. It lasted about four hours and I haven't had one since. What I'm having now, for about two months, is a strong pressure directly in the top/center of my head. I also have pressure in the sides and back of my head. I can't identify this pressure as a headache because I've only had the one that I would definitely say was a true headache. Is the pressure also considered to be a headache? If so, I have one almost all day, every day. I'm new here so I'm checking everybody's headache symptoms. I am at a loss. Could this be something else?

an mri may help ease your ideas on things as pressure can be caused by many things going on in your head... pressure is a headache...
May I ask if the pressure is like pushing into your head or out?

The pressure is pushing into my head. At times it feels as though a ten pound weight is sitting on top of my head. This is the worst, but the pressure I have on the back and sides of my head, although it's not as bad as the pressure on my head, is constant and distracting. It affects my daily life.

sharp pressure? Or as if someone is pudhing with theur habd (with 10 pounds of force, I mean)? types of pressure I've seen listed under migraine symptoms. ... that's the trick with headaches really. there's no set pattern as to how they are or how they effect everyone! any pain in your head is classifued as a "headache"... have you tried hot or cold compresses on the back of your head? cold helps me fir a short while which is why I ask.
my headaches/migraines take a big toll on my life too, so I know wgere youre coming from, only my pressure is going out, not in.
do otc pain killers help at all?

It does feel like someone is pushing down on my head. OTC medicine does nothing. My head hurts, but I really don't consider it a true headache. I have a sinus infection, and my doctor says that may be causing the pressure, but I don't think so.

it would seem that the pressure coming IN wouldnt be caused by sinuses... but antibiotics are the best option to rule it out none the less.

I just started the antibiotic today, and I have to take it for ten days. I hope it helps.

I hope so too. However, there may be a change in my diagnosis. If I do have a sinus infection, the amoxicillin will cure it. When I went to my ENT, I told her about the pressure in my head. She questioned me about pressure in my temples. I do have that pressure, and it's getting worse. She sent me for a "sedimentation rate" blood test. I've never heard of it before. She wanted me to get the test immediately, and call her office today. When I looked on-line, a lot of things looked familiar. I think I'm getting off the subject of a traditional headache. I've been to several doctors. I've been told I have a pinched nerve on the right side of my neck. My neurologist diagnosed me with cervical dystonia, which is a condition where my neck pulls to the right and it causes my muscles to become tense. I feel like I'm on a journey to a final diagnosis. All my problems are on the right side of my head and neck. It seems like one thing after another. I started on the subject of headache because I didn't know where else to start. Thank you for all your interest and support.
