:-)  just spoke to the team about getting an appointment with them. He said that I need to see a doctor, physiotherapist and a psycologist. What will each of these people do? Especially want to know what the psycologist will do? Am I going to be judged or do you think that they are going to make out that I am a hypochondriac? I get sick of people thinking that if they can't find a medical reason for my daily migraines then there shouldn't be a problem. Not that that has happened for a while.

Thanks in advance :-)   if anyone can answer my questions.

T-

I have not been to a pain management specialist or team of specialists but think that they probably have to evaluate your mental state to make sure that you are stable enough to take whatever medications they might give you, and of course to find out what your real motives are to getting pain medications. It is probably more formality than anything. Just be honest and you will be fine.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your reply. My neurologist and my GP are very undersatnding and they know that my pain is real. My GP said yesterday that she totally agrees with seeing the pain team because there is nothing else that she can offer me to relieve all of this. She doesn't know how I have put up with these headaches for so long. I don;t know either. Suppose I am tough. Hey if I like being in labour I think I can withstand most things.LOL.

Hi Trace, Dont feel bad about your concerns of talking to a psycologist. I have the same fears. I am in the process of fillig for ssi and they have made a apt for me this sat at a psycologist. My first fear is that I will be trying to figure out what they are getting at and that can change how you answer even if I dont try. The other is I know it is not in my head due to the blood in my urine. But what if they decide that it is? I know that I have depression now but the pain came 1st. Anyway all we can do is go and be ourselfs. I hope it is over for you soon so you can get the proper treatment you need.- I know the only way I have been able to put up with all this pain is through the grace and strength of Christ.

Thanks, I have recently found Christ and am finding a lot of comfort in that.

Hi Trace, I'm glad your doctor is referring you to a group of specialists. Don't fear them. Let them get all the information from you that they can. They will work to give you what you need in order to bring you the best relief.

In therapy for recovery from my spinal surgery, I've been taught relaxation techniques to help get through the most painful days. It's helped me sleep, it's helped me cope with my migraines, too, when my medicines just don't do the job.

The other specialists will be there to help guide your treatment and get you on the right track toward the best care. Don't hold anything back. Let them help you. OK?

Good luck Dear!

Hello,

I see my GP, a neurologist, a psychologist, a naturopath and accupunturist. All contribute in their own way to my health and I don't feel any of them think I'm a hypochondriac.

Coquitlam55 has the right idea, Trace. Get as many people working with you as possible. They each have their own special methods to deal with what you're going through. Hopefully, together, you will find relief. Keep us posted, OK Trace?  Good luck. Prayers are with you.

Great advice...the more help you have the better. Just remember you are the chief and they are the indians :-) Take their advice, stick to your meds and know all you can about your illness (regardless of what that might be) and your treatment options!
