Does anyone live in the Washington DC area and know any good practitioners that do Biofeedback? I did it a few years back and absolutely loved it- however, I am having a hard time finding practitioners, expecially ones that take my insurance (MAMSI-Optimum Choice) confused

I do not, but look for a university hospital or a pain clinic.

I learned about biofeedback for treating migraines in my Psychology class at college. Although they did not give alot of information about how biofeedback works. Could you give me some info about it? Thanks!

During my sessions I had a wire around my waist to measure my breathing (how fast I was breathing), a clip on my finger to measure hand temperature and leads hooked up on my upper back and forehead to measure muscle tension. You can see all of these items on a computer screen. The practitioner helps you slow your breathing and do exercises that actually increase your hand temp (cold hands are a sign of stress) and help you relax your muscles. It is absolutely amazing. Its a bunch of relaxation techniques and you can see them working on the computer screen.

Nerak-

Thanks for sharing your biofeedback story and information. I'll be back with places to find biofeedback resources...
