I saw a rheumatologist today as a couple of my doctors think I may have Fibro. According to this doctor, I am "too old" to have migraines...he says they are ONLY caused by hormones and once you hit menopause, you can't get them ever again......how many of you have been told this? Right now I want to strangle him!

Interesting. Never having considered it before, I did a search and found at:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3451672/

A brief article, (it's a PDF download) of a 72 year old woman with late onset migraine with aura. Although they say that such migraines usually present before age 40, apparently they can initially present later in life. They do say that if they present at such an age, care will need to be especially taken to rule-out other abnormalities, but in the case study they cite, all tests were negative for other factors. If one can initially present at 72, it's manifest that if one gets them earlier in life, that they should be capable or getting migraines even later in life.

Regards.

Not all migraines are caused by hormones, what type of doc this? I would see a neurologist.
