Recently had a few days of photophobia, bright lights causing eye pain, and soreness in and around my eyes. Thought it might've been a med reaction, but that didn't seem to be the case, got thoroughly checked out by my optometrist and she found no signs of inflammation or anything serious/urgent. She suggested that I investigate the possibility of a new side-effect to Topamax (I've been at my current dose for over 3 months, on it overall at least 6 months), or that my migraines have changed in character. I'd consider this an improvement for my migraines, in a big way. I also have had trouble with Lyme disease recently, and I'm having some other symptoms that could be the Lyme coming back, so I'm looking into that. The eye stuff might be a Lyme symptom, too.

I'll follow up with my neuro, but has anyone else had an experience like this?

I take topomax and have this side effect at times. However it is not so bad that it would cause me to stop the med. My TN paid is far worse.

This didn't happen to me, but it did give me kidney stones. My neuro stopped it cold turkey. That being said, my neuro did ask me to check my eyes thoroughly while on Topamax. May be this is a side effect.
