I am new on this Forum, just wondered if anyone has been diagnosed with Hemaplegic Migraine?
After 2 years of problems and many emergency admissions for suspected stroke (1 hospital stay of over 3 weeks when I could not walk or talk at all!) I have been finally diagnosed with this Hemaplegic Migraine (had to move to France to get this diagnosis)!!!!
Anyway, my symptoms are very strange and do not necessarily start with a Migraine. First is usually slightly blurred vision then severe Fatigue when sometimes I can sleep for 24 hours!!! I now know that if I dont catch this in time at the very beginning It will then progress to weakness on left side (heaviness in leg and left arm and numbness on left side of face), then loss of balance, slurred speach, sometimes vertigo), The last thing will be the Migraine. When the Migraine goes then my functions return. The French doctors on my latest rush to Hospital tried Loroxyl (Amitriptyline). This worked and functions returned.
I now know what to do when in first stages, I take 5-10 drops of this Loroxyl, makes me a little groggy but it is worth it for the results. I can now seem to control it, although am Finding that stress and over stretching myself will bring on an attack so I rest when I have the first symptom. I have never had Migraines before or suffered from headaches (or any of the family) until I had a nasty Bird flu virus 2 years ago and was rushed to hospital with complications and symptoms started with severe pressure in the head and stabbing pains in the centre of the head also. Then other symptoms started showing itself, slurred speach etc., I have had every single test that I can think of and all results normal.
Has anyone had the same experience and how do you manage it?
Would love to hear from you.
