My mother has a hard time with the number of migraines I have per week/month/year. Could you please help me out here?  She's making me very cranky. nono

1) List how many migraines you get with timeframe (week/month/year).

AND

2) What medications you are taking to deal with your headaches?

Any information you could provide would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I luv you guys!
Leigh Ann cool

After reading alot of the posts, my migraine doen't seem to be as severe but still it's pretty dibilitating.
I used to get migraines 1 once a month for years. Now it's worsening to 2-3 times a week (the week before my cycle).
It always starts off with an aura. When I notice it, I immediately take an Advil gel cap for Migraines. Go to bed for an hour (if my situation permits) This seems to work for me. After about an hour, the aura is gone, there's an annoying pressure in the back of my head. I can still do things but I feel quite tried.

I get migraines about 3 times a month. Lack of sleep and alcohol are triggers for me. (Needless to say, no drinking for me) I get no aura or warning of any kind, just BAMM.. .and I think my head is exploding. I was taking Topamax for this but I became lethargic and more and more depressed so I gradually weaned myself off of it and now I take Imitrex injections when I get a bad one. It usually takes about 20 minutes in a dark room after that, but it makes it all go away.

Hope this helped.

Leigh Ann...

I kid you not...I had one month...September of course...my BAD month, I had migraines that last the entire month and 3 days into October...I had 33 days straight of Migraines. So, please don't for one minute let someone make you feel like you aren't having migraines when you feel you are.

Now, you may also have different types of headaches...like mixed headaches such as migraines and tension headaches (mixed headaches) or things like New Persistent Daily Headaches. I am going to post either today or tomorrow a list a brief description of different types and maybe that will help you out a little bit.

My suggestion is to keep a diary (as always), get on a good preventative and take your ABORTIVE medicine ASAP.... a new study has shown that most people are not taking their medicine whether it be their preventative or abortive as prescribed!

I keep a strict headache journal...so I can keep an eye on my triggers, I take Topamax (200mg) Inderal (80mg) daily, I take birth control (without the inactive week-to reduce menstrual migraines), I watch what I eat...exercise regularly...nothing extremely strenuous (walk with the dog or something "casual") and SLEEP REGULAR SLEEP PATTERNS....

Let me know how things are going? Alright?
