I've been getting these headaches for years now but they have recently gotten worse. I am a 24 year old female. I get pain behind my eyes (concentrated on the right side usually), a stiff painful neck and shoulders, and an overwhelming urge to sleep. I sometimes begin to yawn uncontrollably before the pain. I get no aura, and no sensitivity to light or sound, just extreme fatigue. Ibuprofen, excedrine, tylenol etc do not work. The only thing that works is a Relpax, a prescription migraine med. I get these probably an average of 10 a month. Some are worse than others but they almost always last 12 plus hours if I don't take meds. Is it migraines? My doctor told me I shouldn't need all 10 pills in a month and I find myself running out of them. Help please. Does anyone else get headaches that aren't typical migraines but only respond to prescription medication??

I went from replax to imitrex. Still taking too many.

Sounds like start of a cluster headache that doesn't go full blast.

This is what I have done to control some of my pain levels.

Following the migraine diet. It is listed in our resource thread at the top of the forum.

Drink water, you want something else?, choose water.
No caffaine, you will get a rebound migraine for 3 days, but then it will be done. Be strong, this one is important.
Exercise, fresh air, not matter what the weather walk, rain coats are make for this reason.
Yoga, simple stretches are great to releive head pain.
Meditation, not the OM kind, there are many kinds. I meditate for prayer and I meditate on my pain to reduce it. Works well have some practice.

I hope this helps.
