about 5 or 6 years ago I started experiencing this weird medical problem. It began while I was at work. I started seeing something in one or both eyes, kind of like when your watching a dvd and the picture breaks up into digital cubes. It forms in a line in my sight and sometimes I get circles of nothing in my vision (black spots) That lasts about 30 to 45 minutes and sometimes its followed by a migraine and sometimes not. Most times accompanied by nausea. The migraines at times are so severe that I can take all the pain meds I have on hand and nothing takes it away. I just have to find a way to pass out. My doctor put me on Relpax but if I don't take it early enough its useless. if I ever try and work my shift with it I am useless for the following 1 to 2 days. Sometimes I wonder how I don't die with the pain being so so bad. When it's severe i'll wake up with the left side of my face being numb. The pain when it happens only happens on the left side, from my eye sockets to my nasal passages to my ears my jaw and my neck. Severly debilitating! My doctor thinks its hormone related.( I had it when I was pregnant 31 yrs ago) then not till recent, I'm in my late 40's. Anyone have similiar symptoms, and have any better remedies?

sounds like you start with ocular migraines and may go into cluster pain, ending with trigeminal on the left side.

I have very complicated migraines also.

I am on a combo of meds for maintance and imitrex for sever pain. T3 for complex episodes. Relpex gave me too much muscle aches.

Is you doc a neurologist at a well known hospital? If not I suggest you look at a hospital know for neurology, and make an appointment with one of their docs.

I went to John Hopkins in Md. for a correct diagnosis, now I am with a doc at Thomas Jeff Univ in Phila, Pa. Still have daily pain but it is manageable 85% of the time or more.

Haven't heard of such symptoms before. Should see a good neurologist. Prayers and peace! :)
